Hi everyone,
I’m preparing for a multi-day ultra-distance gravel event (~1000 km), and I have a race scheduled a few months prior that I’ll be using as part of my training—not aiming to race it all-out, just treating it as a hard training day.
The week following that race is currently set as a recovery week, but it happens to coincide with a vacation week where I’ll have more free time and flexibility. I’d like to take advantage of that—not just because of the time off, but also because that race is around 250 km, which adds a big training stimulus. My idea is to use the following days for long outdoor rides to simulate the demands of the target event.
I’d follow this with a proper recovery the next week, before getting back to the plan.
Has anyone done something similar? Any advice or concerns with shifting recovery this way? Any advice on how to structure this? Also, is there a clean way to shift the training weeks forward in the calendar to make space for this outdoor block? I’d like to move everything one week ahead after that endurance-focused week.
Thanks!
