It wasn’t ‘perfectly working software’. It broke due to external (as in they didn’t control it) infrastructure breaking. They would have had to patch the software, that they had no intention of patching at any point, to bring back the functionality.
Actually - let’s get technical. Due to the SSL certificate expiring ( which just didn’t impact wko4 but other software ), they already had wko5 planned for release but instead of investing the effort in making the fixes they brought it forward and invested the effort into it. cheers for a better wko5. When is the actual expiration? I haven’t had any problems uploading to TP from my WKO4 as of yesterday, Win 10. Was this just an apple thing?
A couple of quick question:
- has TrainingPeaks updated WKO5 lately?
- Is anyone using WKO5 on a M1 silicon Mac? If so, how well does it work?
WKO5 release 576 was made somewhat recently, it added vlamax model and other stuff. Searched and couldn’t find the release notes.
I’ve read a couple of positive posts on the Facebook group about that chip and WKO5.
Thanks - when I searched on release notes, the last I could find were from 2019. So I wanted to see if TrainingPeaks was continuing to update WKO5.
The last time I evaluated it, it was painfully slow on my old late 2013 model Mac.
When WKO5 was released I also found it be slow on a high-end 2016 MacBook Pro. Later releases improved performance, I find recalculating charts using all power data (~1000 rides) to be acceptable.
It’s terrible and dishonorable that their forums are Facebook only. Fuck that.
its mind boggling, TrainingPeaks has its own servers (calendar, workouts, etc).
Last time I checked, they fixed the issue with external monitors, but now I have to double check.

@TimWKO had talked about moving off of FB but its never happened. Given how rich the content is in the group, and how much bullshit continues to keep coming to light with FB, why would you park your forum on a platform that people are increasingly leaving?
Completely agree, I am enjoying WKO5 but it is rather annoying to not have access to the forums without making a Facebook account which I refuse to do. Would love to see something like the TR forum for WKO5.
There are several threads that aren’t directly WKO5 threads, but feature a lot of discussion about analytics. The Kolie Moore podcast wisdom thread, the Kolie Moore FTP test thread, and especially the Sweet Spot Progression thread have a lot of WKO5 relevant discussion.
Yes - the use of facebook is a big turn off. I dumped that piece of &^(&^&(*^, and don’t really want to have to create an account just to get help on WKO5 - if I end up buying a license
I have WKO5 on an M1 Mac Mini (base model).
It’s been optimised for the M1 chip, and somehow runs faster on that than on my way more expensive gaming PC.
How about that, I had no idea. Checked and yeah universal. Nice work TP. Awaiting 16" version someday to hand over money.
Academia heritage? I had a sneaking suspicion of the bias. My Win 10 WKO4 is still synchronizing with TP so the whole drive initially to WKO5 is just for Apple (so Apple can make a few more bucks). I refuse to support it (still ticked DW insists on an iPhone).
I dumped WKO5 entirely. Because of where they put their forums.
I’ve submitted questions to TrainingPeaks support and received answers. You don’t need FB WKO group for help.
