Hacker Pschorr Munich Gold
Wow…what a great and different beer.
2021 Goose Island Bourbon County Imperial Stout Cola….possibly the most unique beer I have had in years. Strong cola finish negates the bite of the high ABV (14%
).
Buddy of mine hooked me up….~$25 beer.
Post workout recovery. ![]()
Officially NA now. This medicine is weird… I’m drinking over 2 gallons of water a day. And I never get tired of it! I woke up several times last night just craving cold, cold water.
Also, I’ve already lost about 4 pounds in water weight. I’m expecting to lose another 4-6 before leveling out.
Connected in SFO on my way to Taipei…grabbed a Firestone Mindhaze IPA and a bacon grilled cheese.
Both were delicious….
It is a schitt beer and your pee will smell like formaldehyde the next day, but when in Taiwan….![]()
Back when I first starting coming here, this was literally the only beer you could get on the island. No exaggeration…if you wanted a beer, your only choice was Taiwan Beer.
PostDoc Brewing Demon Star Irish Cream Imperial Stout
10.9% alcohol
Brewery is in Redmond, WA
I feel these guys are getting better and better. The Irish Cream is a nice touch of sweetness over the standard Demon Star.
Enjoyed a couple of JHB’s towards the end of my ride today.
Hey, if any of you make it to Red Rock in the SLC area, have one of these for me, will ya?
Of course they’d release a triple right after I stop drinking.
Just had a Pliny the Elder - was tasty.
Grandfather Raven Imperial Stout
9.5% ABV
Black Raven Brewery, Redmond, WA
My kind of tasting notes: dark caramel, chocolate, hints of coffee
In Dark Trees Czech-style Dark Lager from Maplewood Brewing….damn tasty.
Dark Lagers seem to be having a bit of a revival lately in Chicago area breweries….nice to see a trend away from IPA’s all the time.
Wife is traveling on business so I hit the local Chinese restaurant for some house special chow fun and my first Bells Two Hearted Ale on tap.
No bikes today, went skiing. After views like this
I’m enjoying one of these
Rogue Double Chocolate Stout
9.0 ABV
Into the Tilt American IPA from Roaring Table Brewery (a few towns over)
Really nice classic IPA….hoppy with a mild bitter finish. Not juicy or hazy, great color.
My daughters are out running around in Chicago today and my oldest is getting me a bunch of beer from Hop Butcher, my favorite Chicago brewery. Very excited for the delivery!!
A solid American IPA is far and away my favorite beer. Not sure if you’ve had it, but there is a brewery out of Des Moines (brother lives there) called Confluence and their Des Moines IPA, which is an American IPA, is worth trying. Bonus points for the fact that the brewery is right on a greenway so folks roll up in cycling gear all the time.
