What Beer are you enjoying?

Beers with Chad levels - Triple/Imperial IPA - 10.2%. Another delicious one from Wylam, and the 1 can had me riding a nice wave for about 2 hours!

I’m disappointed at the lack of black beers available in the UK, even Aldi or Lidl don’t seem to sell them. I first had a Staropramen Cerny in Prague about 7 years ago and fell in love with the black stuff

We have the same problem. It’s all IPAs; the next ‘thing’ here seems to be sour beers with fruit. Bleh. Not against it totally on principle, but these beers are NOT exactly a belgian lambic. The craft beer scene here needs to try a little harder IMO.

Of coudse maybe the problem is with demand. We had a brewery here that specialized in classic belgian styles. Apparently nobody wanted if, so instead they started brewing crap with marshmallows and graham crackers and stuff…

In many ways I amost wish we were back in the days where everyone drank millwr/budweiser/coors. At least then…it seemed craft breweries tried to make the best beer possible. I get the impression many, many beers now are made as a marketing promotion, with the beer itself definitely an afterthought. That’s how we arrive at smores flavored beers…places trying to stand out of the crowd through goofyness rather than quality.

Edit: sorry, noticed I didnt make clear. I’m in the U.S.

I didn’t like their Blood Orange IPA that much, but their regular IPA is damn good!

I got a variety pack and it had both of those, the hazy bad idea with the triangle wheel, and the session. Didn’t care for the session IPA, but I generally don’t anyway.

Saved this for tonight, this flavor profile is probably my favorite for any IPA.

Urban Roots in Sacramento,

Very nice beer. I had their like riding a bike or something IPA last week, and this one is even better.

After hours at home working diligently, time for a pint! Full Hop Alchemist v11 from West Coast Brewing, a brewery out of Shizuoka, Japan. Haven’t been disappointed by them yet.

Brewdog Nanny State is the best non-alcoholic beer I’ve had. Very good if you like IPA-style beers. Silly name though.

COVID has me enjoying Sour Ales…There’s a local brewery that’s been doing a dang good job on their sour lineup this year. My favorite was a Sweet and Sour Cherry Ale. Today’s offering was Big Luscious by Founders Brewing.

Is the Guinness zero as rank as the real stuff?

As it’s stout season, I’ve been enjoying genuinely quality and genuinely Irish Stouts. Wicklow Wolf Apex Oatmeal Stout (and a few of their specials - S’mores and Tiramisu), Lineman Astral Grains, Porterhouse Wrassler, Lough Gill Arethusa, Trouble Brewing Dark Arts, Brú Panda Nero to name just a few brilliant ones that put the multinational plastic offering in the shade.

I’ve a tendency to start my evenings with Alcohol Free beers - the first one or two I have a habit of necking, so sometimes safer!

  • Brewdog Punk AF and Nanny State (I think it’s a great name!) very nice.
  • Wicklow Wolf here in Ireland have “Moonlight” which is also right up there with alcoholic ales.
  • Best bang for buck is “Early Start” which is a Roadworks/ Aldi own brand, again in Ireland. Not sure if it’s available in the UK, although Station Works who make it are in Newry. It’s much nicer than the Roadworks alcoholic stuff actually just as a beer
  • Erdinger AF - I’ve started a Friday evening Zwift race. First week I went straight into beer, and it really affected my recovery. Last week, I had one of these first, and n=1 I wasn’t as bad for my Saturday morning spin/ workout. It’s supposed to be isotonic…

There’s also a good few, great, low ABV beers available here. Dead Centre’s Teeny Tiny my pick at 3.3%, but there’s a few also down at 2%.

Every time I see this topic in my thread I want to reply, “All of them.”

I had this over the weekend, it actually does taste like banana bread. Really enjoyed it, i guess it’s an acquired taste though.
