I’ve got a plan built around my work and life which works out as 4 * 45 mins after work (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) plus an outside ride without any structure on most weekends. I’d like to gradually increase it to 60 minutes so increasing one day a week (probably Mon as I’m more rested post Sunday than after other hard sessions in the week) and seeing how life/chores /work takes it.
I like seeing what is in the calendar in advance and am debating between scheduling the 60 min for plan builder and use alt workouts to bring it down to 45 mins if work is too much or leave at 45 and go up most Mondays.
I’m not sure which option has the best outcome for the AI workout level adjustments or even if if would effect it.
It probably doesn’t matter and AI will adapt to what you eventually do. FWIW, I have my Wednesday endurance workout set to 60mins but if I do it outside in my lunch hour I’ll use alternates and select a 45min one.
I personally would increase duration and use shorter alternatives when needed.
Rationale: training = duration x intensity x frequency. Lets assume frequency (i.e. consistency) remains same. If you increase duration, then intensity should go initially down to ensure smooth progressive overload. Once you are accustomed to added load, only then AI can start pushing intensity up.
This is theory anyway. What else TR AI implementation may consider, we really don’t know.
