I’m planning to do a group ride century on an upcoming Saturday where there’s currently a threshold workout scheduled. After adding the event, it prompts me:
Train for this Race?
You’ll need to build a new training plan to include the event you just added.
Keep Plan or Build Plan
If I select “Keep Plan”, it adapts the workout on the next day, but doesn’t cancel the workout on the same day. Shouldn’t it adapt both days? I don’t want to manually delete the scheduled workout, in case I can’t get it back.
On the other hand, if I select “Build Plan”, it wants me to create a brand new plan starting after my current plan. The proposed start date is months after my scheduled event, so I’m not sure how this makes any sense.
I’m basically trying to get the plan to adjust according to my planned event. How is this supposed to work?
Have you attempted to edit the existing plan instead of just adding an event to the calendar? You can’t have overlapping plans which is why its defaulting to starting plan after when you try to make a new one.
You can also just delete the current one and start over. You make need to actually have two plans if you have 2 A races. They recently changed this.
It’s reasonable that you throwing something onto a calendar doesn’t edit an existing plan. While you do select bike for all it knows this is a bochee tournament you plan to do after your workout.
100% chance if they did have it auto delete we’d be seeing the opposite post from someone. In this instance it’s easier to delete that workout than it is form someone to find and put it back in.
I think this is the issue. Switch the event to a B event if you don’t need a full taper and just want openers. Or build a new plan if it truly is an A event. The A events drive dynamic endurance, so you can only have 1 per plan.
Building a new plan would restart my base→build→specialty blocks, so that isn’t ideal.
Shouldn’t adding an event adapt the workouts around the event as needed, either by deleting or swapping for an easier workout? It should know how to do this since it even estimates the TSS for my entered event. If I choose to cancel the event, I would except adaptive training to undo its previous changes.
If you make the start date the same as the old plan it should take that into account. Or just try editing it.
Plan trumps random events you throw in. Throwing a race on doesn’t change the plan.
Hey @bogardon
I took a look at you Calendar and it looks like you’re in a General Fitness plan (Zwift - Increasing FTP) and not in an Event Based plan, meaning you will need to create an Event Based plan for it to take into account your Polo Field Century Event.
You can do this by deleting the current plan and applying the Event Based plan with the original start date of February 2, 2026.

If you have more events you’re planning on completing, I would encourage you to add them as well
