What Beer are you enjoying?

I love beer. stouts and dark beers. Occasional light beer(that isn’t bud or Coors) and hard ciders.

I picked up a Left Hand Brewing Raspberry Milk Stout last weekend and while that’s not normally my thing, I have to say it was exceptional. It was maybe not quite as creamy as the original (probably the Nitro), but the flavor was refreshing. Maybe if you’ve ever had a Lindemann’s you could compare it to that, but with a creamy base.

of course, the original Nitro Milk Stout is always a favorite.

Being an Assistant Brewer I drink the freshest Beer. I usually Drink Saisons and pale ales on the weekends.

I want to be an assistant brewer :disappointed_relieved:

Stopped by The Alchemist when I was up in Stowe, VT last week. Got some Heady Topper, Focal Banger, and an imperial stout they make called Luscious. All are delicious. Despite the reputation of Heady Topper, I prefer the Focal Banger. Both are excellent though. The stout was quite good as well. I don’t believe any of them are distributed beyond northern VT, but if you ever get the chance, check it out.

I really like the Urban Roots beers (I’ve tried 3 or 4 IPA’s from them). This one is really nice and my current favorite.

Do you know how to brew beer?

I do actually. I had a long stretch before my daughter was born where I was brewing every weekend. Made a homemade mash tun with parts from home depot, and a copper immersion chiller. There was just no way I could manage cycling, brewing, and a daughter though. Something had to go. Sticking with cycling seemed the much healthier option :joy:

I did a bit of brewing back in the 90’s…it was OK, not great. I’m sure I would have gotten better with more practice, etc.

But it dawned on me that there were so many great beers out there to try, why waste my time trying to brew my own.

That feeling has only grown stronger over the years…the sheer abundance of excellent beers is almost overwhelming. I rarely buy the same beer anymore…there is always something new to try. I’m sure as hell not gonna waste my time trying it myself now! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(But I totally get people that enjoy the process and make great beer on their own…that particular juice just isn’t worth the squeeze for me)

That’s where I am too. Did one batch of beer around 2010, and it wasn’t great. At the moment, my weekly beer expenses are about $10 or less, so the time investment to save perhaps $8/week and drink worse beer … just not worth it right now.

I do idealize home brewing, and one day if I have lots of time and space, then things might change.

Got this for Christmas and bottling in a few days, an interesting experiment to see if MrBeer can make me an assistant brewer :joy:

Yea it’s time consuming, I started as a home brewer and was brewing every weekend I “once had” so much beer bottled and kegged that I didn’t brew or buy beer for 3 years I was giving it away to friends for any occasion and I couldn’t even keep up… but then a good friend who I met home-brewing opened a brewery and I started as an assistant when he opened. Did that for awhile then I moved and I’m looking for a brewery to work for now. I consider myself a jack of all trades a brewer bike mech I also worked PT in a shop and a home builder I biilt home and commercial properties for a living while raising 3 highly active boys under 12. When I brewed at home my kids would help me brew and they know there way around a brewery.

That sounds like a dangerous job :beers:

Hazard pay

I love any Belgian Lambic, Gueuze or Flemish beer. Anything by Rodenbach or Leffe is great.

I am enjoying Lupulin Brewing’s Hooey

A couple of new beers last night…

Pig’s Mind Brewery Bitch Slap Red Ale - nice malty flavor with a bit of a coffee finish. Don’t find many red (or brown) ales these days and it was quite good.

Then Mikerphone Brewery Mikerphone Drop DDH Pale Ale, which was damn good. This is about the 3 or 4th beer I have had from them and they have all been excellent.
