Is there any vegan (plant based) started suplementing with creatine and want to share weight gain?
Please share weight gain even you are not on plant based

u lost me at plant based
plant based is more about diet and veganisam is more like philosophy…
For example I as a person on plant based diet eat honey but vegans don’t…
Maybe just add some creatine to that…
You could just try it. Any weight gain is just water and you’ll lose it again quickly as soon as you stop.
I didn’t notice weight gain when I was using it, but I was also cutting at the time so it would have been hard to track. I did notice a bit better looking muscles though, but I was lifting a lot at the time so it’s fairly subjective.
I’m not vegan, but when I experimented with creatine, I got puffy. As mentioned above, it came right off when I quit.
I’m largely plant based and began using Creatine about a year ago. Yes, I added 4-6 lbs, but I’m much more focused on muscle and body mass than total weight. Creatine occurs naturally in meat, so I think it’s especially important for vegans to supplement with it. It also has great benefits for brain function.
I‘ve been eating a vegan diet for 7 years and started taking creatine a year ago. I gained about 2-3 pounds over the first two weeks and also look a bit more muscular.
The strength difference in the gym is noticeable, albeit not huge.
Hey,
I’m vegan (plant-based ) and started taking creatine like a month ago. In the first two weeks I did initial loading by having two doses of creatine one in the morning and one in the evening post exercise. If there was any initial weight gain then very little only but realise all that extra water was normally gone after nice maybe 1-2 hrs endurance ride (atm indoors only). Can’t tell if muscle mass is still to come, but doing high TSS and IF exercises I definitely feel like completing them is less of a struggle than before. Also feels recovery is taking less time.
Definitely recommend taking creatine together with a nice protein/carb shake.
I’m a vegan 50 year old woman, so not apples to apples by any means. I’ve been taking 5g creatine daily for 1.5 or so years. I never gained weight using creatine, nor am I puffy. I try to drink plenty of water throughout the day (1800ml) to help process the creatine through the kidney, more if I am working out that day. You can avoid some of the undesirable effects (gastro, weight gain) by not doing the loading phase that was popular many years ago. Just take the 5g dose and wait a little longer for full blood levels to be achieved. Your experience may be different, but like many have said, try it. Any effects will subside within a few weeks of stopping creatine.
Omnivore and I gained about 2-3 lbs. Initially noticed I could increase my weights and reps in the gym a little bit.
Not vegan but my partner is mostly plant based so I have limited meat intake at home (eggs, fish and I throw some chicken on random stuff every so often)
I started about a year ago while cutting so not sure if i gained anything then. I’ve stopped a few times but mostly due to my partner putting the jar away so I just forget and get out of a routine. Since I have started/stopped a few times I can’t say that I notice any change in weight. I am 200+lbs though so what many people notice for weight change I see day to day.
I took it for the first time during the 23/24 winter season. 52 year old male. Omnivore. I did the 5g dose daily for about 90 days as I lifted and trained on the bike. My usual winter weight of 159-162 jumped up to 165-168. This was the most I have ever weighed. I had great success lifting, but it didn’t transfer to bike power as much as I was hoping. I’ve been toping out at about 290 FTP for a few years now and was hoping for an increase with weight training that included creatine. I stopped once spring hit. The weight did come off, but it took longer than I would have guessed and I never hit my race weight target of 152 like I have in the past. Since cycling is my #1, I’m not taking it this winter and just adding volume to try and up my FTP.
Hi! I’m vegan, and a junior racer. I started taking creatine (5g/day) a couple months ago and I think I noticed a few pounds of weight gain but not much. In the same time period though, my FTP went up 15w (thanks to trainerroad!), so I felt much faster overall. I think as vegans, taking creatine doesn’t have as much weight gain effect as it does on non-vegans, since we aren’t getting much of it at all.
