The first 4 songs are for the ramp test itself. After blowing up sometime during Walk I skip to Space Dye West for the chill down session. The rest of the songs on the list are all “energy” songs for me and I listen to them when training and other things.
Just started with TR. I’m a lot more on the heavy side of things. Like newer hard rock. I used this for my first TR ramp test along with past FTP tests.

Ramp test proof! ![]()
Used this today. 25 min list. Up 15W since my last one two weeks ago (to be fair, was coming off a sickness back then, so hence the re-test, but still). ![]()
Not strictly a ramp test playlist, but this is my all-up treadmill and TR playlist:
I am about 10 weeks into training for a MTB race in May. I was watching mindless TV on the iPad as a trained. Entourage from the beginning. Now the last 15-20 minutes of the workout I paused the iPad and crank up the music. It gives me something to look forward too and increases the intensity.
My current playlist
Fidlar-Drone
Iggy Pop - Lust for Life
TSOL-Dance with Me
Generation X- Ready Steady Go.
The Ramones- I want to be Sedated.
Underground househead here. Typically fire up a continuous Dj mix but I also threw together a quick playlist for Ramp Tests. You will NOT find Skrillex, Diplo, Tiesto, or any other commercial EDM act on here.
If this playlist is your cup of tea, I have many more playlists on Spotify that I’ve curated over the last handful of years.
This is mine…it’s very house but does the trick for me…
8 songs - 27 mins long builds up to the 22 min mark. The last song is a nice cool down track. Have crossfade set to the max, Some tracks mix ok others not so much.
Music playlists are fine but what I do find helps is just having a video of a bike race. The last couple of times doing FTP tests I have taken a TR Youtube video. Today was First Race Nerves with MTB Pro. 27 mins long. Too long to sync to time to be my end result but I find riding in a pack to be helpful to have that feel of I am just keeping pace. I listen to high pace music but its the visuals that distract me.
My current one, although I recorded it and used Audacity to trim quiet gapes between tracks. If I do get to Roni Size I am going to have a massive ftp increase! Might need a final track for the cool down though.
Ramp Test YouTube Music
Starts off crazy chill with Enya then Beethoven… then escalates pretty quickly (like the ramp test) into some heavy fast punk rock with AFI and Rise Against! These are not my typical music choices, but seem to be very effective for the test!
My ramp test playlist. Builds some motivation in the first few songs and then gets angry to help me push through
Last song is chill and I can enjoy cooling down and mentally relaxing while feeling accomplished (hopefully)
Here’s the one I’ve used for the last few ramp tests:
I also made one with a 70s vibe (below), and I have been working on a classical music version for Coach Chad.
Good choices here and new stuff for me to dig out.
Mine revves up. Start with some rock and finish hard with Daft Punk Homework. Made it to peak at 20:30 ![]()

Enjoy
Depends on the mood I’m in for music genre but I’m ending with these 3/4 songs depending on the genre.

Jay-Z/Kanye - Who Gon Stop Me
Jay-Z/Frank Ocean/Kanye - No Church in the Wild
Method Man/Redman - Da Rockwilder
Lupe Fiasco - The Die
Rock
Disturbed - Voices
Dropkick Murphy’s - Shipping up to Boston
AFI - Malleus Maleficarum
Electronic
Major Lazer - Light It Up (Remix)
Krewella - Killin’ It
Daft Punk - Derezzed
Skrillex - Bangarang (feat. Sirah)
Mix
Travis Scott - SICKO MODE (Skrillex Remix)
Deorro - Five More Hours (Deorro x Chris Brown Remix)
Michael Jackson - Speed Demon (Nero Remix)
AC/DC Back in Black Album - Every time.
I love starting the test to the ominous sound of the bell tolling as the music fades in.
Sturgill Simpson- Sound and Fury
Apocalyptic Rock and Roll that builds nicely through the entire album. One of the best songs on the album ends up around the 18 minute mark and will take you to well through your breaking point. 4% increase in FTP for me this morning.
I created a playlist that has a mix of songs approximately 90 rpm.
I download the Spotify playlist on my phone and listen to the songs offline with the help of the Audio Capture from AudFree. I save then songs then and move them to my players. It sounds the same as the original song.
