Recycling program for gel and energy bar wrappers (free)

Just found this company, TerraCycle, that allows you to recycle ALL foil-lined energy gel and energy bar wrappers. The program is sponsored by Cllif Bar, but it is not limited to Clif Bar products.

I haven’t done it yet, but it looks like all you need to do is register with TerraCycle, they’ll give you a free shipping label, you collect your wrappers, and mail them in. Clif Bar also donates " $0.01 per wrapper to American Forests American ReLeaf Program for all qualifying shipments over 5 lbs."

Obviously, it will be hard for an individual to collect 5 lbs. of wrappers, but their FAQ says there is no minimum shipment size. It does seem like they’re trying to tailor this program more toward larger “collection spots” than individuals… say like your LBS. Could be worth asking your LBS if they’d be willing to join as well.

TerraCycle: Energy Bar Wrapper Recycling Program

They accept: Foil-lined energy bar wrappers; foil-lined granola bar wrappers; foil-lined meal replacement bar wrappers; foil-lined protein bar wrappers; foil-lined diet bar wrappers; Clif Bar & Co. wrappers from Clif Bars, Luna Bars, MOJO, Builders, Crunch, Clif Kid Z-Bar, Kits Organic, Clif Kid Z-Fruit, Shot Bloks, Shot Gels, and Shot Drinks; pouches from Clif Organic Energy Food
