Garmin Training Status now populates for TrainerRoad workouts

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone is having issues with this working and then stopping? I am using Zwift and have an Edge 830.

Everything was working well for a week or so until the 10th July and now my Zwift rides are no longer being included in Training Status screens.

Zwift rides are syncing to Garmin Connect fine.

Is anyone else having a similiar issue?

Sorry, mine is still working

It’s rare that I’d spend time on Z. No love with Garmin when I decided to use up the free 25kms for the month.
It’s not just you.

I thought it was established weeks ago on this thread that it’s a beta programme feature and doesn’t work.

Yeah, it screwed up my Garmin stats for weeks because even Z1 rides came across as Anaerobic. It tired to tell me I was overtrained for weeks as a result. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

It’s tracking my TR WO’s just fine. Z was a bust last time I tried.

It shows them, but it doesn’t properly calculate the Aerobic vs. Anaerobic load. See above.

Gotcha. I thought it was working and updating the 4 week load stats correctly in the background.

Thanks everyone, it sounds like this will be slow painful “Journey” as garmin brings the capability online and irons out all the bugs. I am assuming that since they now own “FirstBeats” that they will move it from ON DEVICE into Garmin Connect over time. Thats bound to be a messy process.

For lack of a better place to put this question and not worth bothering support…:

Will TR only allow manual upload of TR Workouts pushed to a headhunt and executed outside, or will it take all .FIT files? I’m not pushing TR structured workouts to my head unit as am on my own plan. But I wouldn’t mind pulling the .FIT files into TR manually. I’ve tried drag and drop of .FIT into TR and the machine just churns. So wondering if it needs a TR workout tag or won’t upload.

Two caveats that are “me” centric:

I use the TR calendar function for planning purposes now and have started to use it as a diary. Eventually, am hoping TR analytics become a bit more sophisticated and could then use TR as (a) planning platform, (b) GUI for indoor workouts and (c) to record outside rides.

With exception of uploading a few mountain bike rides to Strava, my data workflow is offline. Don’t like sharing my data across too many online services so am reluctant to pass files through a third party just to get them into TR.

Should take most/all .FIT files. I’ve recorded fun rides on random bikes using Apple Watch, exported as .fit using HealthFit app, and uploaded to TR. Uploaded two last week and one in March.

With respect to the subject of this thread, that is a general capability and has nothing to do with Garmin Training Status.

Thanks Brian. Suspect it something to do with my antique machine then. Will leave it for another day.

I have one unstructured group ride a week and all of those upload just fine. If you have rides that don’t upload, shoot an email to support. Just tried uploading two walks from March, one ‘succeeded’ and the other TR kept processing for 5 minutes before I killed the browser tab. Both are NOT on my calendar. My workflow involves using TP/WKO/computer to archive all activities. Is it me or is there no obvious way to download entire years from TR? With TP (free version) I can download everything - original files -conveniently zipped up by year. FWIW manually downloading cycling workouts from TR and inspecting with fitfileviewer.com reveals the TR version has missing info versus the original FIT file.

Hi

In the last few months I’ve got a Fenix 6 and an Edge 530. I’m finding that TR rides pushed from TR record a MASSIVE load when sent to Garmin - a 90 min session this morning (Dragontail -2) recorded just over 1200 training load. I also recorded the same session on the Edge 530 which registered a load of 331.

This means if I use the TR file rather than the garmin I’m reocrding a training load in excess of 2000 a week on a low volume plan.

Does anyone have any idea why the same ride would produce such different results as it then skews all the Garmin data.

Thanks

Does this actually work? Has anyone tried a TrainerRoad workout or even Zwift ride without recording on a garmin head unit or watch? I am wondering if the training status updates without using a garmin device?
I want to know so I can run TrainerRoad and Zwift concurrently without using my garmin 530. I don’t feel like buying any ant+ doggle.

No. Which is lost in the mists of the beggining of this thread.

That’s training effect, which is different than training status (confusing, yes).

You can see it driving training load/status in the training load section. Here’s a workout from this weekend. The one with mileage is the TR one.

Quite right, my mistake.

Training Status

Did you mean the one WITHOUT mileage is the TR one?

Nope, actually with. It’s pulling in the speed from the Tacx Neo 2. Here’s what you get when you click on it (the others are purely power meter only recordings).
