Electro Muscle Stimulation (EMS) training

I have been using Trainerroad for a couple of years. I did my 1st post covid race Sep 22 with a disappointing result, a checkout by a biokineticist identified very weak glutes and hamstrings as one of the major problems. After a year of rehabilitation using mainly Electro Muscle Stimulation (EMS) training gluets and hamstrings improved substantially. Sadly, I stopped in November 23 and with that and and less bike training saw my FTP plummet. Any comment on EMS?

I use the powerdot quite regularly but mostly for recovery and massage. I find it really relaxing and feel better after hard workouts.

I’ve never really used as a training aid or workouts per se. I think time would be better spent in the gym or doing home workouts.

Same. I’ve had a Compex EMS unit for years that I will use for recovery.

Outside of a rehab situation I can’t imagine they’re affect on strength for cycling is significant otherwise you’d hear about every high level athlete using them
