I had the same yesterday and it could only be fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling the beta app.
Yeah that was what I did last time this happened and I’ll definitely be doing that if needed. I don’t need the app till Thursday and its also on my tablet and is working on there. Just figure its the sort of thing that needs to be reported.
Thank you both for the reports and discussion!
We think this is happening after completing a Ramp Test in the Android beta - did both of you do one recently?
Do know that this is being looked into. The less than ideal solution for the time being is to uninstall and reinstall the app, as you’ve already mentioned.
Very recently! I did one about 2 hours before the crash. It was also the first time I had opened the app since doing the test when it crashed.
2nd time I did the 20 minute FTP test on a Kickr Core, everything went OK except the switch to standard mode, one of these apply
- standard doesn’t work correctly for the kickr core, I can’t seem to hold a target, either by shifting or keep a steady cadance.
- the 20 minute test should switch to resistance mode instead of standard (which works just fine with shifting)
- I don’t understand the standard mode on TR or the Kickr Core (or the combination)
Anyway, the test went fine, but I had to change settings manually to resistance.
(if you need the log, it’s this ride: Log In to TrainerRoad)
No ramp test done. I also use Xert and get my FTP number from there. I haven done a ramp test in over a year.
Thank you as always for the feedback, we’re digging into the issues that have been reported We have a few rounds of improvements coming out shortly and are still trying to make sure we track down all the cases of backgrounding problems. If you have seen any crashes or incomplete loads after or during backgrounding TR, please give this new version a shot. More rides and usage the better!
Here’s a quick rundown of what was in this latest release.
• Replaced the sync banner in Calendar view with a loading spinner
• Fixed a problem showing specific blocks in Plan Builder
• Added additional logging & improvements for the backgrounding issue
• Fixed a problem with an endless spinner occasionally showing when processing account.
• Fixed a problem with Wheel Circumference showing incorrectly during setup.
Silverthorne - updated app opened quickly, worked faultlessly apart from still no milage pushed to Strava.
Samsung S20 Powertap wheel ant+
First start after update has a progress counter that doesn’t show a value (only “{0}”)
Second start seems a lot quicker, calender also looks more stable
Still have the issue where display isn’t correct in landscape mode.

Would you be able to tell us what device you have, what Android version it’s running, and any text size or magnification settings that you might have enabled?

Screen Zoom is centered (3 of 5)
Text size is 5 of 8
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet or not but it would be interesting to see on the screen what “zone” (e.g. 1-6) you are in with respect to power.
Maybe in the colored bar under your power (which changes color based on how close you are to your target) or inside of the white solid circle at the end of this colored bar, it could note what power zone you are in (e.g. “Z3”).
Quick update: We just released ANOTHER new version with some really sweet improvements to Calendar Performance. If you have been having any issues, please take a look and see if they are resolved.
i can confirm, that Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 and Samsung M31 works perfectly for me, the only thing i haven’t tested is a Ramp Test, are there any issues, do i have Live FTP, Test is planned next tuesday?
In the meanwhile i have to exchange my Mobile Phone to a Samsung Galaxy M21, any experience here, could test after my Ramp Test next week?
It looks like there are some changes regarding speed and distance to strava, I just found a ERG speed simulation setting in the wahoo app (kickr core) that pushed more realistic miles and speed to strava, but TR handles this different this week (it seems).
Als yesterday’s workout did not include an image on strava
(not sure if both issues are backend or beta app related)
(Strava Cyclist Profile | Niels van Alphen)
hmm, the setting in the wahoo app does not stick
Assuming Android and iOS apps are the same then yes - though I didn’t figure out how to do it until someone helped me out:
There are a number of places the Android back button doesn’t work as well as the one quoted earlier. E.g. Ride Sync/Connect Apps. You have to use the TR back button to navigate as it doesn’t respond to the Android back button.
