That’s the “knock off” version. I recommend and have the TheraCane:

Though similar, the TheraCane has better hand placements to really get into and put pressure on your trigger points.

Now that I am working on changing cameras and adjusting audio with our new setup, I can’t get to the live notes during the stream. That said, I will start taking notes of mentioned products on the side and add them in after the fact.

I might be able to pitch in after the fact as well, with adding links to the OP.

@drmarcj

I’d do two things:

  1. Look at your PRs for max anaerobic output
  2. See how you do on hard anaerobic workouts with repeats like Spanish Needle. If you go from not doing them to completing them as perscribed your repeatability is going up.

I disagree agree with Chad here about needing kJ measurement. kJs are just Watts x Duration. That means you can just look at your average power over time to know if you’re doing more.

Bit late to this one but there was a bit about a user having difficulty staying with a group when his FTP was 4.85 w/kg.

My first A race of the year has come and gone so I thought I’d offer up a little bit of experience. Going into the race I was sitting in or around 4.9 w/kg and was dropped within the first 60km of the first stage. This happened up the second climb of the day. In or around 5 minutes.

Throughout the weekend I was dropped consistently until I crashed out during the neutralised section of the last stage.

In conclusion, a lot of guys on here and myself included to a certain extent care too much about FTP. For my race I would’ve been better off training and working on my 5 - 8 minute power as this is what ended up killing me.

Do you know for sure that’s what kept you back? Or is it possible that the other guys had similar power profiles but were 5+w/kg?

… your W/kg doesn’t say much about your 5 minute power does it? On the other hand it says a lot about FTP per kg, where FTP is based on a much longer duration (say 40-70 minutes for the sake of the discussion). So two riders with the same FTP can have different 5-min power.

Indeed they can - I’m just wondering if he can be sure that’s what the issue is.

@Nate_Pearson A bit late to comment, but yes burritos are a thing in Europe. We have plenty of burrito places down here in the Czech Republic. Berlin has some fantastic ones too. Originally from Texas, so it’s a glorious thing.

Loads of burrito places in the UK, London at least. We have Chipotle and Tortilla and lots of other brands and independent places too.

I just try to avoid too much mayo cheese and guacamole where the calories pile up…

This is exactly what transpired within that WR German Olympic track team Chad briefly mentioned last year on the podcast – the two top riders had almost the exact same times/speed yet their aerobic and anaerobic capacities were completely opposite.

I posted the analysis somewhere on the forum…you can search for it if you’re overly interested. :+1:
