What is this metric system you are referring to?

It is the system of measurements used everywhere on the planet with the exception of three backward-ass countries.

‘Murica

Go check any of the scientific papers written by any of those Nobel prize winners, and let us know what measurement system they used. We’ll wait.

Whatever. Come talk to me when your FTP is over 221 ftlbf/sec.

That’s not even that impressive when scaled for population

Percentage of countries on the metric system that have put someone on the moon: 0
Percentage of countries on the imperial system that have put someone on the moon:
33

You think NASA uses the imperial system?
adorable

The Saturn V was designed in metric (Werner von Braun being German and all) and the measurements converted to imperial for construction.

Also you might want to look up how the inch, pound, etc. are defined

I watch quite a few YouTube channels of American origin and the metric system is either used a lot or the metric equivalents are given: “50lbs or 23kg” type comments.

Note that in countries that have used the metric system for a long time, old, even ancient units are often used. I’ve heard “poid” (pound) being used in France for half a kilogramme for example.

0%

The imperial measurement system is very logical

Very useful…if you never count beyond 12.

And lot’s of people don’t. But for those people, the the digital age will be a bit of a struggle so we help out by teaching them the decimal system.

We use both…badly.

Watch out. Much more “explosive” topic then imperial system vs. metric system. :grinning:

Oh the irony.

kudo’s for this!!
sometimes it’s not country/location related, but some things are just better (in terms of universal understanding) in 1 system or the other…

over here (the netherlands) everything is metric, but MTB tires are still in inches… it would be just weird to get 57mm MTB tires. but for road tires it in mm.
Anyway cycling distances should be universal in km (even in the US you talk about a 40k TT and stuff like that), also running distances, 5k, 10k etc.

Checked a recent road ride, but Florida indeed seems to just as flat then the notorious flat Netherlands
0.13 for this ride (75km, 100m)

Can we have this table normalised by population size? :joy::joy:

“WOW, the meme thread is lit up, let me have a look!”

“The metric system”
