Make all your indoor cycling workouts count when you sync TrainerRoad with Strava.
TrainerRoad’s Ride Sync automatically uploads your workouts to your Strava account. It’s super easy to use, and it helps you keep track of all the rides you do — on the trainer or on the road. From keeping tabs on your total mileage to competing with friends, every mile you ride indoors with TrainerRoad will count.
Ride Sync works with every workout you do. So whether you’re following one of Coach Chad’s cycling training plans or a workout you made with Workout Creator, you can upload to it Strava.
Here’s how Ride Sync works:
- Log into TrainerRoad and access your Account Profile.
- Select Ride Sync from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Click Connect with Strava and enter your Strava account information.
- Authorize TrainerRoad to access your Strava account.
You can also upload a past ride you may have done before you linked your Strava and TrainerRoad accounts.
- Select the workout you’d like to Sync to Strava.
- Click the Strava icon from the options on the right-hand side of the screen.
- Enter your Strava account information (if this is your first time uploading a TrainerRoad ride).
Strava has quickly become a staple for cyclists around the world. Ride Sync has been available for awhile now, but we think it’s really important and something you’ll love — especially with winter around the corner. So, we’re spreading the news again 🙂

Would be cool if TrainerRoad would upload a screenshot of the workout when syncing with Strava. (like Zwift does)
Know this has ben a feature request for a while.
It takes me all of 30 seconds to screenshot the workout, crop, and upload from my cell phone to strava.
It’s actually in the works! 🙂
Where is this feature? It is not possible to upload a picture even manually when I use TrainerRoad from a laptop. Strava doesn’t support image uploads through their web interface.
Drew,
Check out the following link to learn all the ins and outs of setting up RideSync with Strava: Ride Sync
That’s correct about the images. If you’d like to get the image of your workout in there, you’ll need to screenshot your workout then upload that image. I know it’s not the most elegant solution, but this is your option for the meantime. 🙂
Hope this helps Drew! Happy Training!
Using a wahoo kickr the distance logged to Strava was way off when I uploaded my rides to Strava. I read on an online forum that it shows correct distance if you use the small chainring which I did not do, but haven’t tried since.
I know that things like speed or distance don’t make a lot of sense in TrainerRoad, but when I upload the rides to Strava my friends don’t understand that.
My trainer uses ERG mode and I usually choose lower gears to reduce noise, but that means the wheel is not spinning very fast and speed and distance are very low, even the intensity of the workout is high.
I know it’s a bit silly, but you said it on your FB page… “Strava or it didn’t happen” so, wouldn’t it be nice if you could estimate speed and distance based on power, weight, terrain (flat), etc. such as Zwift, Bkool, etc. do? It would be just an estimation with no real value for the training process, but at least my friends would be more impressed than when I ride at more than 300W and my average speed is below 20kph 🙂
^ This. There have been times when I pick gearing for a straight chainline (little front/medium large rear) and I’ll crush an hour workout, but Strava reports that I went 12 miles. Conversely, sometimes I like the high inertia feel (big front/little rear) and friends on Strava are in awe of my 31mph recovery ride.
Zwift doesn’t have the same issue. They use some sort of algorithm to estimate speed based on power and export the data to Strava.
I get a crazy speed reading (Wahoo Kickr) when uploaded to Strava. I’ve confirmed my wheel circumference and updated the TrainerRoad app accordingly, but the readings are still for screaming speeds. I know for structured training power is THE thing, but when sharing out rides socially via Strava it is a bit odd and I get some raised eyebrows (comments) from friends. Thoughts?
Ok this needs to be said:
Please export my summary graph of my ride into strava as a picture. It looks super lame without it and I have to screen shot it each time?
Working on it!
Thanks for the feedback Kevin. 🙂
Happy Training!
Not the first one that have asked this.
The distance reported on Strava is a big error (1 hour at avg power of 127W says 54.7km – so wrong!).
If Zwift can estimate distance based on power, weight, wheel diameter, terrain (you can use flat all the time) even on ERG mode, is it so complicated to you?
I do not need the speed, but I need the distance covered to be correct in Strava, otherwise why should I want to export on Strava?
Please, do you have an update when this issue will be fixed?
