Zwift rides sync to TR?

Well, I did my first ride in zwift today. I was super excited about pairing TR to my phone and Z to my laptop, both over BLE. Wasn’t working, wasn’t working, wasn’t working. It was then, and only then, that I realized I have a 2017 Kickr, not 2018. :man_facepalming:

Laptop on ANT+ still worked, though!

A Z friend said I should now drop TR. I told him he could pry it out of my cold dead hands.

I run Z and TR on a single laptop with ANT+ and BLE. I think it works great.

I also don’t understand those like your friend who think you should choose between the two. I think TR adds incredibly to Zwift and vice versa. I don’t see the 2 as competing but complimentary.

Cheers!

How do you avoid duplicate rides in Strava if you are running Zwift and TR simultaneously?

My experience is that it gets duplicated about half the time, and I just delete one of them. Sometimes one or the other doesn’t show up in strava. I don’t know why, but maybe Strava has a built in algorithm to avoid duplicate activities that catches it. I also noticed that while a non-TR zwift ride will make it to my TR calendar, if I do a simultaneous TR-zwift ride, only the TR activity makes it to my TR calendar, which is fine by me.

Since TR auto uploads upon completion of your workout, I delete the TR workout from Strava then save the Zwift ride.

Yup, this is my choice and process as well.

Where do you think I got it from? :grinning:

Reviving this thread. I’ve recently been doing TR workouts on my iPad with TR controlling my trainer and using zwift as eye candy on my laptop. I do additional z2 workouts in zwift alone and they pull into the TR Calendar fine through strava so the tss is accurately tracked.

Hopefully this isn’t a dumb question and makes sense.
Once a TR workout is done I know it automatically uploads to strava and to the TR calendar. If I were to continue riding In zwift after the TR workout is done without stopping is there a way to accurately get the tss for the extended part of the ride into the TR calendar?

I’m curious to hear other people’s answers, as I’m certainly not an expert. But, the only options I’m familiar with would be to end the Zwift session you did your TR workout in and then start a new Zwift session for a new ride. (This of course would be much easier if Zwift wasn’t so stupid, in that you must exit the app to start a new session). Another way that might work, but with the catch that you would lose your actual TR workout, is to delete your TR workout and then import your Zwift ride that included your TR workout, which would then import as an outside ride with the total time TSS.

I think I have a workaround for my “issue”, going to test it later today,

I’m going to run the tr workout like normal letting my pm be the power source and tr controlling the trainer, I’ll use my pm for the power on zwift. I’ll complete the tr workout and let it sync and upload to the calendar and Strava. I’ll keep pedalling and keep the zwift ride going but will change the trainer control to zwift so it be will be a continuous ride in zwift.

Ahead of time I’ll ad a free ride workout to the tr calendar. Once the original workout is complete I’ll start the free ride using the pm as the power source and zwift controlling by the trainer.

I should end up with a continuous ride from zwift on strava and the original tr workout and the free ride on my tr calendar. This should in theory give me proper data and tss in the tr calendar. I may have to delete the tr workouts on strava or the zwift ride on the tr calendar depending how they upload but that is simple. I may miss a minute of data making the changes after the original tr workout is done but I can I I’ve with that lol.
