Just read it. Sometimes 2 + 2 = 5, but the part about going to Reno and there is no other reason to go, it seems more likely a meeting happened. I personally use FulGaz with Trainerroad. When I got my indoor trainer I really didn’t want to use Zwift, hence using FulGaz.
I see a lot of comments about “I hate the Zwift graphics” etc and not interested at all in the gamification, if they do merge I would suggest having a dual interface. “Click A for blue columns world” or “click B for (insert Zwift world”.
From my perspective, I think TR and Zwift could be a great match, having a vastly improved performance tracking engine with the flexibility to race or do endurance rides all in one application would be something a lot of people would want.
I think both products bring a lot to the table but I often find myself wanting one or the other at certain times, having them together would work great.
Still holding out hope it’s TR that buys out Zwift no matter how unlikely. (In my head cannon some rich billionaire that loves cycling is backing TR and wants their awesome devs and culture to kick Zwift in the pants to make their virtual ride platform not suck as much especially in the indoor racing aspect)
Z2 rides are so much better as group rides in Zwift. The group rides on TR is a bit strange to me. Zwift can be set up as a group, have the stay together feature on (you can ride 500W and I can ride 100 but we stay together) and that’s way better than looking at others on a zoom equivalent in peoples pain caves.
Xert has a great way to model individual rides which feels like it’s the best out there currently, but they don’t really have a good way of creating a training plan for a user where the platform is the coach. They are based on mathematical models which are great but they don’t seem to feed into a machine learning model.
Xert smart workouts are great in how they are much more flexible based on the signature of the user but no real ml to string them together.
Was kind of hoping tr would have merged with xert and used it’s modeling if the individual rides to train adaptive training and have smart workouts
I do love the ui zwift has for running a workout so kind of hoping for this way to do it. Everything else from trainer road is better but starting at blue columns isn’t good motivation during a ride
There’s so many ‘if’s’ but I think this could really work. Personally, I run TR workouts concurrently in Zwift to break up the ‘blue blocks of death’.
With @dcrainmaker knowledge and being a go to guy (seems like TR solicited his input on the calendar or some other feature?) in the industry maybe this is a ‘trial balloon’?
