Your favorite snacks

That sounds fantastic! I’ve wanted a dehydrator for ages but it’s never the thing at the top of the list. And those sound like great trainer ride snacks

Delicious and nutritious you say :joy:

My mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack is almost always fresh fruit and a handful of nuts (or nut butter - almond is my favorite). I try to avoid energy/protein bars as they generally have a lot of refined sugar, although Rx and Kind bars have several that are pretty low in sugars and have a nice, simple ingredient list.

I second the idea of a boiled egg as a snack, though I’d definitely go the soft-boiled route. I like a spreadable (not liquid) yolk, especially if I’m having it with a good whole grain bread.

Hummus and fresh vegetables is another favorite (carrot sticks, bell pepper slices, cucumber, green beans, etc).

I’m also a dairy addict, so a good chunk of cheese or a cup of quality cottage cheese is a regular part of my diet.

Stroopwafels are the best

How do you prep that? Or are they ready made?

My go to lately has been some homemade trail mix. Super tasty.

Walnuts
Sunflower seeds
Slivered almonds
Dried blueberries
Dark chocolate chips

Other than that, a banana or apple is what I’ve been trying to use lately.

I snack on Almonds throughout. They’re great at killing hunger.
5% Geek yogurt and honey is delicious.

I used tinned chickpeas. Dry them off, add a bit of oil and paprika in a roasting tin then roast for around 15mins at 200°C.

They’re nice and crunchy warm and get a bit chewier after they cool.

Uncooked Quinoa? Are you sure? What liquid softens it up then? We cook ours in the rice pot at 1 1/2 cups (or more?) per cup of Quinoa.

Cut in half, salt and pepper… delicious!

I have an excalibur and dehydrate so many things. Favorite is pineapple.

Sorry, I meant for the “uncooked” to refer to the measurement of uncooked quinoa. It ends up around 2 cups of quinoa after it’s cooked :+1:.

I promise I’m not eating my quinoa crunchy :joy:

I’m going to have to try this! It sounds like the flavor profile is a lot like this Mexican bean salad I’ve been eating non-stop for the past two weeks…

Any alternative is to do baked eggs where you crack an egg into a muffin tin then bake until firm. You can add salt and diced veggies right in. I was doing that way before Starbucks started their little egg bite fad

I like to go “bro” style and do protein powder and rice or oats.

A banana between 2 slices of brown bread.
Give it a quick thump to squash it out a bit.
Enjoy.

Bump, I’m searching for more inspiration!

What snacks do people keep close at all times? I’m looking for stuff easily stashed in the office drawer for those moments of weakness!

I used to keep almonds, RXbars, or protein bars at my desk to snack on. One week I didn’t get a chance to restock and realized those moments of weakness happened more often when I had stuff available. I now occasionally end up raiding the vending machine where cheese-its are the most healthy option, but it’s much less often than when I was reaching in my drawer.
I also realized that my worst cravings were coming between lunch & dinner so I make a pot of brown rice each week and portion out for afternoon snacks.
