tldr? how do you deal with unexpected missed days when you have a fixed schedule
i’m trying to cut my cycling days down to 4 (currently 5 or 6) to have more rest days, better balance weight lifting, and more life. so I am creating a schedule for myself that includes one longer ride, two hard rides, and a quicker ride.
my question is each day of my week is super unique…for those that structure themselves like this, when you miss a day without notice (due to life, your chain breaks 10 min into your ride, you didn’t sleep well…whatever), what do you do? do you shuffle stuff? just skip that day and keep on schedule? try to add an extra day the next week and take away a rest day?
with notice I can easily move a rest day around…but sometimes things happen unexepctedly
i haven’t completely dialed it in but it’ll be something like this:
Mon - Intervals 2-2.5 hours in plus 1 hour home
Tues - Endurance 3+ hours in plus 1 hour home (very light gym at lunch time??)
Wed - Rest
Thurs - Weights plus Endurance 1 hour in plus 1 hour home
Fri - Intervals plus Endurance 4-6 hours
Sat - Rest
Sun - light cardio plus Weights
(the 1 hour home is cause I commute…always do those low endurance)
