How often should you do the ramp test?

Typical suggestion is every 4-6 weeks, or if you suspect a notable change (up or down) in your fitness.

Most training plans have some FTP test in place on the range above.


Do it when scheduled. The plans have a progression built in and testing mid block will put you in a difficult spot with the harder workouts.

Exceptions: several failed workouts or it always feels too easy.
