What workout did you do today? (2020, part 1)

Severely compromised decision-making pathways, man, I’m telling you. The whole thing is a vast conspiracy to push your brain into a non-functional state and then get you to do very stupid things. Can we get some TR whistleblowers in here?! HOW DEEP DOES IT GO

It’s tuesday, it’s recovery, it’s pettit

Aaaah, it feels soooo good to be able to switch off and watch netflix, or listen to the podcast.
Sure there are drills, but drills are fun, right.
Oh my god. What have I become?

Antelope. After a longish run yesterday with 15-sec strides at the end, the first 2 intervals this morning felt quite bad, hurting all over. Somehow got into it, and got through it. Doing 3 min aero, 1 min off, 2 min aero, 1 min off, 1 min aero throughout the intervals. I’m not going to be confrontational with anyone today - just sitting on an endorphin high.

After messing up with Spencer +3 last week, I decided to lower the interval lengths a little to 2:30 and try to rebuild from there. Dade +1 had a much more tolerable ratio of work/rest for where I am at the moment, but still a decent amount of TiZ (120%) to squeeze into a lunch break! I may be ready to try a 3 minute jobber again!

Mills. Bumped up intensity to 103%. Starting thk think it possible that Spencer +2 in the last week of SSB next week may not actually put me in my grave. If I have a good day…I may even get off the bike not a cripple. I haven’t contemplated the concept of actual success yet :grimacing:

It was Carillon for me. I had much better feelings after a rough week last week after a 14 watts (+10%) FTP increase.

Tallac +3 for me today

Sweetspot again for me today: Antelope +5 but with the efforts extended to 15mins and the rest brought in to just 3mins. It felt fine, which either means I am getting fitter, or I am desensitising the pain receptors!
Aerobic decoupling down to 1.4% which is an all-time low for me.

Berryessa…
My hamstrings were slightly angry this morning.

Needed to grit my teeth to get through this. Usually don’t have any problems getting through the shorter VO2 work. I do a strength sessions in the morning, it’s sapping the legs a bit much now, I’ll swap them over from next week on. Recess -5 yesterday - the most pleasant 30mins you can spend on a trainer. :grinning:

After watching the TR crew suffer yesterday on their live group ramp test, I figured I couldn’t bail on my scheduled test either. No change in my FTP, but I went pretty deep and even survived a bit longer than the last ramp test. I’ll take it!

TSS filler in form of Pettit to move the legs. One effort to gap the hole in WKO. Whole ride done in Z1 in terms of HR so it is a good sign before next weeks of threshold.

+19W from 6 weeks ago at the start of SSBMVI. That will do.

You say that now…

Wait for the next wo at SP!
You will rethinking if the jump was the right thing!

Gibbs for me today. Nothing too demanding and felt good to get a couple hours in.

I had to add 10W after two weeks because everything felt too easy. So I’m hoping this will be just right. It seems less likely that I’ll be bumping my FTP up.

Imma keep typing as a self-feed back journal:

Joe Devel +1. Started out as prescribed hitting or just missing the targets because I can’t figure out how to spin up from 130-something-watts to 400+ in under 5 seconds… dumb trainer… in mobile app it looked like I was missing averages pretty early on, in browser review, I apparently hit the targets…

Either way, I cut the last set of 18seconds on/15off down to 90% intensity, so instead of 140%FTP target I was at 120.9%FTP target (near pure sprint to high VO2)… I managed exactly ONE interval of the last set at 140%, the last one, so it can’t have been too far out of reach, but most of the intervals were probably in the 125-135% range… It felt disheartening at the time, but upon review, and knowing this isn’t really a pure sprint workout, I’m good with it.

HR during the intervals quickly hit CX-race pace, which, apparently is linked to my plan builder goal “races” being CX races. Weird how that works.

Short-shorts are no joke, and I’m sure they’re helping me more aerobically than pure sprint max effort, but since this is build 1, I’m not to disappointed.

As long as the backpedals were during recovery only :joy:

VO2-Tuesdays Continue… Spencer +2, Indoors because work finished late.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy

Kidding, VO2 indoors stinks.

Did I fail this work?
Had to back pedal in the 3rd set each interval at the 2:30 point. VO2max is very hard training referring to the podcast this last week, i know for a fact i need to spend more time in VO2max zone but how when it is going to wear me down so much :cold_sweat: :cold_sweat: :cold_sweat: :cold_sweat: :cold_sweat: :cold_sweat:

Has anybody any tips to improve my VO2max?
