Happy new year to one and all Hope you don’t have too much of a hangover
Did Mary Austin-1 outdoors. Didn’t go quite as planned - I was on the single speed fat bike and was aiming to use a climb I’d used the other day for Darwin but there’d been a thaw and refreeze overnight so it was sheet ice So I ended up on the road on a climb that wasn’t really long enough for the interval blocks. I ended up doing the three rising steps and then using the two 2min step downs as part of the recovery/descent.
Slightly short on the overall TSS but a good workout for New Year’s Day.
Kicked off the year with the usual easy Friday Z2 for SSB2 HV, Fletcher (90mins Z2), which was ridiculously easy, even at 75% my HR was just above 130bpm. Don’t want to speak too soon, but fitness does look like it’s getting a bump now that I’m in week 3 of SSB2 HV.
Happy New Year It was supposed to be a rest day but I woke up to brawl skies and slotted in West Vidette for an out door workout. I did the work out but I ran out of flat road 10mins before the end and didn’t have the bottle to pedal down twisty descents on roads that had been covered in ice shortly before.
Today is an “off day” for my plan but my body is handling the stress well so I’ve been supplementing with endurance or less rides and keeping the duration to 45 minutes or less. This is day 11 of my 12 days of swiftness and start off 2021 with Carter
Mout Cook for some endurance / tempo work (and also trying to catch up on some hydration). Did the tempo intervals @ +/-70rpm, which I can surely feel in my legs at the moment.
Day 1 on my training plan for The Rift in July ()…and I blew it off.
To be fair, this week had been hit or miss with my riding due to a bathroom update, so just wanted some Z2 miles to wake the legs up. Will probably do a long Z2 ride tomorrow as well instead of 2 hrs of SS.
Take Sunday as it comes and then full-on back to the plan on Monday.
Baxter. It sucked and I took a break at minute 35 to eat a gel. Mainly it sucked because I had 5 watery Michelob Ultra’s last night. My HR continues to hover well above my power numbers.
