It’s in the aluminati thread. Just an aluminum frame chameleon 29er. I’ve done a bunch of fixed gear road and velodrome riding but first SS foray on Dirt.
Built this bike a bit on a lark and a bit to have something super simple for muddy days. The chameleon is also very easy to convert to gears if this SS thing doesn’t work out long term. Or even going back and forth if I wanted a race day XC bike.
Gearing right now is a touch too large. 32x20 Am going to try a step down and see if that lets me spin a bit more and feel more confident in tech sections. It’s close, but just a touch big. 30x22 or maybe 28x20 should get it.
I’d vote for carrying on! Those easy rides are all about recovery and adaptation, so you’re weighing the delta between the Galena +2 you did and a perfect version (which, realistically, is small) against a potentilaly compromised recovery week.
Amber was talking a few podcasts ago about how she used to be really religious about not just always hitting all her marks, but also making up any lost minutes. She asked her coach about whether that was making a difference, and her coach told her, “nah, your physiology’s not that specific”. You replaced a few minutes of threshold with sweet spot, essentially. Think of it as your body starting recovery week a little early, and maybe if you’re feeling awesome at the end of next week, throw in some efforts.
Just treadmill and weights. I prefer doing exercise outdoors but because of the quarantine I have switch to indoors. It doesnt really matter as long as I can maintain my lifestyle. I need to get my body ready because once the pandemic is over Ill be back to metal detecting again. Ive been missing the thrill and excitement of looking for buried treasures. If youre also curious about the hobby, you should check out this website.

Words can’t describe how scared I was of this workout having read all the stories on this forum. Especially after I had to bail on Wright Peak -1 just 2 days ago due to bad sleep and allergie issues. But today all stars aligned. I had a good night sleep, RHR was nice and low and my body felt ready to do some work.
In hindsight I’m pretty sure I could’ve made the last 10min at 105% intensity, but I was too focussed on just getting this workout done and checked. No backpedals or small breaks needed. Hope this results in a nice FTP bump when I start SPB next week.
Juneau -1. Quite proud of myself honestly. First 2hr sweet spot workout I’ve done, and it was directly preceded the day before by carpathian peak+2 and an hour of endurance riding.
Really getting annoyed there is no racing going on at the moment. This is the time I’d be looking to gauge my fitness with the odd crit and hard group ride
General Build is proving to be more difficult then expected, but after a medium-ish last week this week started off quite decent.
Williamson +4 today and felt really good, hard but did not struggle much. I knew that I am inclined towards VO2 work but this workout narrowed down the zone even more, definitely better of with the shorter but more intense intervals with less recovery than the longer 1:30 - 2:00 ones
Ahs, sweet threshold workouts… 3x20@97÷. Nice, satisfying and relaxing for the mind. Drop in second interval is my cat tripping my main fan. HR nice and steady for the whole workout.
chased the ducks away at 5:45am and then again just before a conf call at 7am. Looked out window around lunch and noticed what appeared to be a rock in the deep end. Fished it out:
There should be a permanent FTP test Thread. FTP test with a Zwift race. Went for a race starter/breakaway at the start continued for my FTP Test. And tried for a break with 3k to go. But the legs gave out.
Getting the harder work done early in the week. Really enjoyed this session. In fact, I’d say this was as close to a ‘chainless’ workout as I’ve ever had. Onwards
This is just so hard. It’s so hard. And then Chad’s like “ok cool so that was hard but what if it was harder” and I’m like “I mean if Chad thinks I can do it maybe I can do it” and then I finish delirious and like hypoxic and Chad’s like “ok I bet you can make it harder tho” and at that point I’ve lost the ability to make rational decisions so I’m like “SURE CHAD LET’S GO” and then by the end there is no more oxygen in the house and I’ve become a drooling puddle of lactate.
