Until you have to do VO2max!
Started my block of SSBLV2 tonight with Ebbetts and a fresh new FTP. Felt like the right level of effort, not an easy workout, but totally doable. Nervous about the threshold workout coming up next as the threshold ones were my biggest challenge last block.
I just started SSB2 as well, and today was RAMP TEST!! 305—>310. I like myself 1.64% better.
Little bit of tempo work this morning. My HR only drifted slightly above my endurance zone so I think the work I’ve been putting in to increase my endurance is starting to show promise ![]()
Its snowing outside… In need of extra motivation i participated in a group ride on zwift. It was a good even 1 hr effort at low SS and high tempo. Muscular endurance is one of my weaknesses so I thougt this to be golden

After finishing and looking at my Fenix watch it says you are working to hard and also claiming the workout is not productive. I also get 3,5 days of reccomended restitution.
Was this really such a stupid workout to do?
It motivated you to ride and presumably you enjoyed it, so no.
I’m 3 weeks into SSBMV2, it was feeling fairly easy and I just fitted a new power meter so decided to redo the ramp test, really happy with the result. Debating if I should do my planned workout (Jepson) later today!
Latest Quarantine Companion for company while I racked up some Zwift XP. Heart rate stayed pretty low, so I’m getting stronger, or I’m fatigued, or it was cold in the room. (It was pretty cold in the room.)
Ramp test yesterday - 256W (4.2w/kg)
Up from 252W after SSBHV1. On to doing SSBMV2 now as I did SSBHV2 earlier this year and found it put me in a bit of a hole.
If coach Chad were to be a historical figure, then Chad The Cruel or Chad The Butcher would more or less sound right… ![]()
Matthes +4 today, man 3 minutes is loooong ass time. Oh, did I also mention painful? Middle minute being the worst, not quite done but already tired as hell… Glad to have this one out of the way ![]()
Challenge accepted.
My favourite 2x30@97% FTP. Fine, steady and pleasant. And my Wahoo Tickr has died after the workout (how convenient that it was just after new version has been released…).
Your rides are always so impressive - I remember how much hard work Galena +2 was about a month back, yet you manage to do the same work a few times a week and over fewer intervals. Tells us what you’re terrible at!! ![]()
Taylor -3 this morning while fasted and Tallac +2 this afternoon. Should be an interesting day.
And I bonked hard. Had a big smoothy with 700cal after vo2 and 2 cups of oats 2 hours out
From sweet spot. After avg 290w the first hour the wheels came off like NATE doing beers with chad. I limped home out of food and drink under 200w the final 23miles, glad I had the tail wind
Thank you very much for your kind words! 6 months ago Galena +1 has killed me (my first real long, threshold ride, HR went to 97% max during last interval). So to be better at threshold riding I have started riding at threshold - and after some time these workouts become my favourte workouts type. And to better visualize what I am bad at:
As you can see - my sprint (bold word in this case) is non existent, my FRC (and also repetability of efforts over FTP) in the level with 10 years old girl as it is my first year of riding - my stamina over 3h is also quite bad. So I have inclination to be TTer type but my FTP is not on the level with other TTers - so I am good at riding at threshold 3 times a week ![]()
I was only joking, but interesting to see your profile nevertheless! The good thing about that type of profile, is that if you were inclined, you could probably boost that 5s power considerably within a few weeks. I’ve focussed less on short efforts this season and seen my 5s and 60s PBs fall - I guess if I did more outdoors and chased some KOMs, they’d naturally return, but I do think the longer efforts can be utilized in far more scenarios.
I’m not sure a lot of people do much over 300w in a 10 mile TT, which you could probably do comfortably. I did a couple last year on a road bike - power was decent but CDA must’ve been terrible, cos I was slow!
To be honest as it is my first year of riding a bike I have left any type of short power behind - there is no point in sprinting when you do not have power to get to the sprint:) (and I do not like sprinting, even watching in TV).
The TTrs I know are usually bigger than me, and have threshold around 350W so way above my potential. So my current goal is to reach 301 FTP and finish the year with TR with even 100W FTP gain.
Ebbets for me. First ride at my new FTP (15w higher). One of the intervals was at my old ftp but felt ok! Did 8 mins at the end as was doing a Zwift Tour for all ride at the same time and needed to finish it.
