What workout did you do today? (2020, part 1)

Respect @Nate_Pearson I did Baxter it takes more than a little bit of concentration and endurance in the posterior to complete

Try to do a Ramp test yesterday…binned it after about 18 mins…couldn’t be arsed to hurt myself. Did Taku as a warm down. Am working from home now as schools are shut. Will go out solo for a couple of hours later afternoon for some z2. Going to leave my FTP where it is and just do some tempo, or endurance+1 workouts (the ones with short sprints) on the turbo and easy outdoor rides if the weather is nice and they don’t ban cycling!!! in the UK. We won’t be racing this year so I won’t be using my hard earned 18W improvement in FTP and I don’t have the mental matches to keep it going for the summer and then into next year. Will start to train seriously again when there is some prospect of racing…now I’m just going to ride my bike. :grinning:

You don’t need a fancy pain cave, it needs to be Spartan to optimise the suffering. This will make hammering it outside so much easier :stuck_out_tongue:

Week 1 of TBMVIII. With a 5w bump in FTP. Hatch last night, Mount Field this morning.
Legs a bit heavy for Mount Field, started back running last week as well - prob not the brightest. Sore butt too, things get tender after 4 days in a row in the saddle.

Mt Hale - Log In to TrainerRoad - for some reason my head just wasn’t in to it and focussed on all the negatives. Did the first two intervals but bailed in the third at seven minutes to give myself a longer recovery for the fourth but only managed a couple of minutes of that before I’d had enough.

Somewhat bizarrely I looked at my personal records and Mt Hale gives me my best power figures from 16mins all the way to 30mins, typically 12W higher than anything during SSB.

It’s been 10 days since my last TR workout. I subbed in some longer Z2 rides last week and had a big (for me) TSS. I took two days off completely and figured I might complete a very hard Spencer +2 - no, I need to go back and work up to it. I did get through 3 intervals but was feeling like I was digging a hole versus putting in quality work. I’m not that surprised, nor do I really feel too bad about it. I’m going to push the rest of my workouts outside this week and go back at another round of VO2 max work next week. All is well.

First workout of General Build Low Volume with the new FTP I set on Monday. Up from 246 to 256. With the season re shaped I decided to focus on total fitness and last week began running and weights twice a week. So I’ll do Low Volume for 3 rides a week and 2 days of running and weights. After yesterday’s session my legs were feeling pretty heavy on Carpathian Peak but I finished.

Another run tomorrow… Why do people like running again?

Hi, I’m trying to do all my intervals outside. So today I did 6x3 VO2 max and improved my FTP from 260 to 268.

Cheers

and it’s delicious

i was visiting mexico recently and they use these solid chunks of unrefined sugar, called panela. Sort of like jaggery where the crystals and the molasses are intermixed. I don’t put it in my coffee–i prefer the natural sugar of milk–but i would eat small chunks of it straight up just for the flavor.

I like trainerroad, but overall i prefer the UX and ecosystem of Sufferfest. The 4DP has its issues but for me it is better than setting everything based on one number (FTP).

that said, i really hope they put in a power match feature soon. I ended up having to do today’s workout in slope mode because the trainer went out of calibration since last session, so it would have put me under all my targets. was able to do it, but, these were supposed to be over/unders and they ended up being mostly substantially over!

Wasn’t your FTP in the 150s like… recently? Damn!

I upgraded my trainer, there was some disagreement about the definition of a watt :joy:

Did this workout and completed two stage5’s of TOW, joined 1km late on first attempt so decided to queue and do it again.
Happy with first half of the workout, second half, couldn’t face that last block of microbursts…its like they never end. So settled on a final block of tempo to take me to the finish line.
Some easier sessions to look forward too over next couple of days

Sunny, cool and breezy in the UK - working from home so had time to squeeze in 44 tempo miles in 2:07 - we’re all riding on our own of course and I followed the advice and stayed near home - fortunately there is a nice 6.5mile loop 3 miles from my house so rode down – did 6 laps and rode back…wore my shorts enjoyed the sun and managed to forget that the world is going to hell in a hand cart at present which was kind of the idea! :grinning:

Same Here. As a result, as I finish up SSB2, I’m going to plug in 2 wks of variations of Spencer. Can’t help but improve. I’ll retest after that.
