What workout did you do today? (2018/2019)

Felt that way to me!

Hawk Mountain on the calendar, went outside and it took 20 minutes to leave city limits, and then 77 minutes of uninterrupted tempo work before arriving back at the city limits on far side of town.

thought I would be struggling or quitting the workout today after a poor start and long day at work the day before.

Last regular workout of SSB I low volume week 3. Tomorrow I am going to do 1h of Pettit endurance workout. Warlow has been a real challenge. Can’t imagine the suffering I have to go through in SSB II and beyond.

full on rest day, no bike, no gym, a coffee shop, got a lot of work done. REST is a workout too!!!

Reinstein:

First over/unders since mid-June. I was apprehensive and sort of expecting to drop the intensity, but made it through the first two and used my if-you-did-two-there’s-nothing-stopping-you-from-doing-three-except-your-brain logic to survive the last one. Ten-minute recoveries helped, heh.

This workout’s $&!*$%! you Chad moment brought to you by workout text demanding I hold 85rpm for the 14-minute cool(warm)down:

82% and some variation as I didn’t keep eyes glued to computer:

Was feeling strong at the end, had to keep looking down at computer to keep power in check. Pulled up WKO and my HR was flat and power trend line went up 18W over that interval, for a -4.9% aerobic decoupling. Pretty happy with that 77 minute interval. Wanted to do a longer route to push it out to 2-3 hours of tempo, but got a late start.

I had a similar note in at the start of SSB2 - a few years ago. The plans work if you put in the work. Good job.

My first over / under in a long time. I enjoyed it in a perverse way, well fueled, rested and completed the session. Not much left though

Rode Antelope while watching Kona this morning. Looking to improve my ftp for next season, so I’m starting a progression to sustain it for longer and longer. Unfortunately, power match was off for the first interval so the power was 10 watts below where it should have been. Fixed it mid ride though.

Galena +1 was on the docket for today, but I had the time and motivation so bumped up to Galena +4. This was harder mentally than it was physically, sitting at one number for so long is tough.

This was awesome!

Went out to do 4x15min. 2 at 90% and 2 at 95%. Ending up with 2x15, 1x20 and 1x25.
Figured I’d cruise about for a bit which turned in to a pretty wild adventure.

One of my go to favourites

Just baxter-2. Had a terrible week with various activities pretty much every evening and a whole lot of tiredness. Back on the horse on Tuesday.

On a strange note this ride had a lot of trouble with power match. I thought I had figured out how to use it previously but now…ugh. @Bryce Is there anything different with powermatch between beta and production as today’s ride was on beta?

Max Aerobic! One of those days when you’re SO STOKED with your results! Hope everyone has a fantastic ride this weekend!

Free Zwift ride… attack some climbs and keep a good pace over 2 hours was the target. IF 0.85

x177 all time PRs (13min to 26min by a watt ot two!) and a EPIC KOM 1st, mountain goat jersey… not bad for lumping a virtual 92 kilos up a virtual hill!
Finished off with an Alpe du Zwift climb, now on to a much earned taper week.

Eclipse for me. Wasn’t too bad really. Was a bit tired towards the end of the last 20 minute interval but overall enjoyed it and the time went quick watching the rugby. Into week 4 of my first TR plan now. Enjoying the plan and feel that I am making progress.

On Tuesday I did my first ramp test in many months. Was meant to go to the French Alps in September with my dad, bu he broke his collar bone a couple of weeks before we were due to go :frowning: I binned off the training, and did lots of bike commuting to work. Saved plenty of money over the car, and was getting 12 hours a week in which was great. I really tried to go hard each time to hopefully keep my FTP up to where i’d managed to get it.

Decided to start back on TR properly and started SSB MV1 on Tuesday with a cheeky ramp test. Tested 2w lower than I did on my last one, so i was pleased with that!

Today for me was Glassy. I thought it was going to be easy, but it did start to bite on the higher ramps.

Eclipse +3 today.

Currently in my post-season transition phase. Loosely structured, I have handful of rides I’ve been progressing through, while letting fitness rebuild after a longer than planned break post A race. I’ve been into the long steady stuff lately, which never used to be my thing. Fitness seems to be coming back steadily. Not quite as fast as I’d like, but I’m seeing improvements each week.

Found this ride easier than I expected. Bumped power up to 110% for the last interval, which was probably a bit optimistic. Did it, but it was harder than I was expecting. Would not have wanted to do more than one interval at that power level.

Gibbs:

Longer and chiller than Glassy because it feels like I’ve still got some residual cold symptoms clinging on for dear life, but heart rate was much more reasonable. Mostly ignored the drills.
