Good afternoon everyone,
I wanted to share something personal with you today. Over the last two months, I’ve been training hard for a big challenge — a 100-mile cycle organised by Peebles Cycling Club on September 20th.
The reason behind this ride is very close to my heart. I’m taking on this challenge to raise funds for Astley Ainslie Hospital, who played an incredible role in supporting my friend Paul Masterton during his recovery from two separate strokes.
In preparation, I’ve cycled a total of 723 miles using TR and outdoor rides with my longest at 75 miles to test fuelling, with 18,533 feet of elevation! To put that into perspective:
That’s the equivalent of covering 83% of the UK from Land’s End to John o’Groats.
Or climbing Ben Nevis — Scotland’s highest Munro — 4.2 times!
The route that has an overall elevation of 4,493 feet including the Wall of Talla with an avg gradient of 8.4% and 18.3% for 100metres.
