The part that I don’t understand is that if you look at Trey’s Strava is riding about 12-13 hours per week with some running.
I don’t know why he didn’t put in all his data so the AI can see what’s he’s been doing and can start from there.
I do agree that you do need to do longer rides to get ready for long events, I don’t know how you would prepare for a 40 hour ride but I don’t feel that 2-3 hour rides will cut it.
Ok now it makes sense, thanks for the update, I was going off the link that they have on YouTube, my mistake.
Ok this is the right Strava and this could be interesting as this looks like what we have seen on the Forum before.
His calendar is all over the place if this is really all the rides that he’s doing.
I think if he gives TR and honest chance, finds better structure and keep his family rides, as they’re endurance anyway and time riding with love ones is always pretty cool.
The potential is there for a good review and good videos, minus those annoying jump cuts.
Unfortunately it looks like he hasn’t done a workout since February 2 so oh well, another video to nowhere I guess.
Not going to lie, correlating the comments in the video with the Strava is pretty funny.
He says all the workout are way too easy because it’s getting his FTP wrong, so he’s had to raise the power during the intervals to make them hard enough.
But going through the Strava there are workouts like this:
Where his 7:45min intervals go from 240w to 207 at the end and he’s still saying his FTP is between 350-370w.
Looking at the outdoor rides there’s nothing I can find that indicates his FTP is anywhere near that range so how do you fault the program for not picking the “right ftp” when there’s no evidence you can complete the workouts at that level.
Some of the criticisms regarding ride length for certain events is probably valid. I also have goals for longer events, and I do my intervals as prescribed but I add on hours after the intervals, and it works perfectly for me. Maybe I should do a video about how it works when you’re actually following a plan, and have a lot of consistent training history for it to go off.
I really like their race content though, which is unique and covers events that are in my area.
I feel like a more honest review, whether it’s of TR or Join Or FastCat would be at least 6 months. I can see doing a check in review every couple of months but a couple months on any one platform isn’t that much time.
That is hilarious. My FTP is 350, but I can’t get through a 45 minute ride that should be pretty easy, but I’m also going to race for 40 hours. I stopped watching their videos a while back because it was all just too click-baity and bro science and felt very “lack of attention span” to me.
I do believe that’s the plan here but he’s not really using it in any serious manner. There’s a good argument to be made he’s a horrendous athlete for this (ultra endurance doesn’t play nice with TR).
It’s a shame the platform was in freak out mode when Chase was attempting to onboarded because she probably would’ve been a much normal representative for the platform. Limited time, normal goal events, etc. She also was starting from a lower level than he is so the workouts could’ve progressed nicely. Oh well.
There are a lot of people (particularly on social media) who can’t wrap their head around doing something that takes 6 months to drive real results. Many people struggle with 6 minutes of focus. If I wanted to drive clicks, I’d post a video that tells people how get fast on <15 minutes a week.
Or a way to lose weight that doesn’t involve discipline or exercise, but costs a lot of money and no one knows what it will do to your body yet. Everyone wants a short cut for sure.
I agree and what sucks is that this could have been so good.
He said he’s a bit limited on time because of work yet is getting ready to ride a 40 hour race.
Why not lose the stupid sounding titles, Sam Altman or Jensen Huang training plan, like come on dude that sounds corny, the wacky editing style.
Make a video like “Use TR to train for X event race”. Then stick to the plan for a few month and see what happens.
He said he was getting support for Johnathan Lee and Sean Hurley with any questions, hell and here I am happy when Caro or Eddie answers one of my questions.
And make an honest open minded video to see how the training leads up to the race.
He would have had to put in the work but been a much better video.
My interpretation from watching the TR podcasts is that they would rather see consistent training (that you can recover from) than a monster effort that impacts future training. I mean it makes sense, especially for the majority of us with full time jobs.
Yes, two hours rides won’t do much… but will 2 hours a day for 2-3 months?
That said, longer endurance rides should definitely be plugged in the training schedule. But at what point is their negative returns?
Agree. There are a handful of longer term TR reviews out there. I hope we see some like that towards the end of the year with people reviewing their results with the new system.
