Strava & Zwift Duplication Resulting in Workout Errors

Hey, this is a little technical, but here’s what’s happening.

When we receive completed Zwift workouts directly from Zwift, they contain better and more useful data than when we receive them from Strava. But counterintuitively, we occasionally receive the completed activity more quickly from Strava than we do directly from Zwift.

Because the Zwift file is preferable, if you have both services connected we wait to “match” the workout to the completed activity until it comes directly from Zwift. Usually this means our system ends up waiting a few seconds for the Zwift file to arrive, but occasionally the difference in time can be noticeable.

On today’s activity, the Strava icon (and lack of Zwift icon) in the footer shows that we only received it from Strava. On your other workout from a few days ago, you can see both icons, which means we got it from Zwift (and automatically matched the workout).

I’d wait a little while and see if the Zwift file arrives. If it does, we’ll automatically match it and remove the duplicate. If it doesn’t, you can manually right-click the activity on your calendar and choose to “Match” with the planned workout.

If this continues to be an issue, try disconnecting and reconnecting your Zwift account with TrainerRoad.
