SRAM acquires Hammerhead!

The response was truly a thing of beauty…chapeau, good sir!

The interesting thing, is that if you read the press release on Velocio’s site, it says they sought out SRAM for the purchase, not the other way around.

I’m happy because I have a discount on all SRAM stuff with Team Echelon!!! Sounds like new kit day soon

I’d never heard of velocio until now? Is their stuff good?

Never ridden it, but a lot of people like it…without direct expereince, I would say they are a similar company / quality to brands like LeCol.

Love their stuff.

I really like their bib shorts. Being in San Francisco, you see a ton of Veloccio garb, especially women wearing their bib shorts.

I don’t have a big pool of kits to compare but it’s the nicest stuff I’ve had. My wife like their bibs specifically for the women’s drop tail that makes nature calls a whole lot easier. I do find their jersey and jacket sizes to be on the small size. I normally ride between a large and X-large upper body. In their stuff nothing but XL and if I want it loose XXL. They do have a great return policy if the sizing is wrong. I used it a couple times with solid results.

this isn’t fun. especially since i was considering getting one when my current edge dies:

Stupid Shimano. But this is one reason why I never liked sram acquiring HH. Sram is where everything goes to retire. There was zero upside.

Welp…I am in the process of building up a bike with 12 spd Ultegra and was wondering if I use the top buttons to control my Hammerhead or shifting…guess I have my answer now (forced upon me).

Really dumb move by Shimano since they don’t have a computer in the market and this will just frustrate their customers who happen to use a Hammerhead.

Ah jeez…I was just thinking about using the buttons to switch screens…didn’t even think about the fact that any Di2 info was gonna be removed from the hammerhead. battery info, gear selection, shift counts, etc.

Kind of a d#ck move by Shimano.

What I find doubly interesting in the @dcrainmaker article is the fact that Shimano have been using ANT Private to send the DI2 messages, and not move it into the ANT+ standard like SRAM and Campag, which seem a bit, not only are we bigger than you, WE ARE BIGGER THAN YOU, double dick move if you ask me

Yeah, this definitely decides my next gravel build for me. SRAM AXS Force it is!

The existing ANT+ standard does not cover the data they want to transmit (force vectors at various points in the pedaling cycle).

I’m not sure what part of my message you are replying to here as we are talking about shifters, force vectors apply to power meters, but you are correct, the ANT+ standard does not cover that at the moment, which is why you use the ANT Private network, where you can put anything you like (like garmin had to do when they brought out the vector pedals, which then got moved into the ANT+ (public standard) standard, and has been done for other shifters), and Shimano already does for DI2 (which is how they manage to stop HH using DI2, as it’s in the private network, not the standard), I think this is all covered in the DCRainmaker article

I got my own messages crossed between the force vectors thing and the DI2 - my bad.

Sram sucks major donkey balls too. Back to single speeds! My bet would be that sram is actively working against a HH and Shimano contract.

That would make zero sense. You’d be encouraging Di2 users not to purchase your product.
