Let’s not forget the GTA / trainer hack that came out awhile ago…

I mean…isn’t that what is supposed to get people to do online cycling? it’s entertaining?

I would really love to see some creativity. I think silly non cycling games in a zwift like environment would be rad.

Great question!

I think TR in fact has great software and an amazing Training Library. Those two things however, in my mind can be done easily now with the financial backing that Zwift and Wahoo have and is only a matter of time before we see it. TR has AT which is more complex and will be harder to capture by the other platforms.

I guess it comes down to my experience, I use TR as a “broken platform” and design my own “system” and throw in Train Now from time to time.

I find not that those other platforms are better but they are offering more things to keep me “interested” in riding my trainer on top of just watching TV Shows, they offer a virtual reality, individualized workouts with videos and music, yoga etc.

I think its a matter of time in terms of structured training and workout librarys and in my eyes thats easily done. H@LL, either zwift or wahoo has the financial resources to have a out of college intern sit down and copy every TR workout library and replicate it with a tweak for legal reasons.

I like TR, I want TR, I just want more “enticing” things out of TR “rather” I decide I want to use it or not. I am not a super cycling social guy, but sometimes I just want something else to do as I grind my guts out in the winter.

Thanks for the reply. I think see where you’re coming from and I could see myself in that position in a little while. I’m still new enough to training that I don’t feel the need for more new stuff.

This is just talking about software. I could always use a new bike. Or two. And some wheels. Maybe new kit. Upgraded drivetrain. Etc.

I’ve never broken my HR strap but I am constantly annoyed that it loosens itself and I have to re-tighten.

I was a long time Garmin holdout bc it’s a more attractive product (beauty is everything) and there were well publicized features I’d lose. However, after my 3rd Garmin device started freezing, I gave up and I was amazed how many unknown features my Wahoo headunit has that mean way more to me than that FTP and VO2 estimates. Couldn’t be happier with it - so far, no reliability problems.

I’ve got a Kickr Bike which I love.

Is RGT the one with magic roads? That sounds great but I doubt I’ll ever switch. I have tried Wahoo’s app twice and their workouts aren’t my cuppa. I prefer TR on top of Zwift. One of my favorite distractions is “competing” with people while staying in ERG mode. It’s like a movie bc it’s out of my control. I’m doing a workout and my power is locked in so just have to wait and see.

No such thing as cheap and good code.
If you do not pay it will be a mess to fix and improve.
Sometimes even when you pay dearly.

I would like to see an integration with Fortnite. My kid could be the shooter while his energy, his ability to run and jump, depended on the work I put in on the trainer.

I think people are over estimating how good either RGT or Zwift graphics can get.

You have people in this thread saying they won’t invest in decent h/w for just zwift/rgt training, and will only use a platform that will run on their phone/ATV. So devs are coding for things to run smoothly on those devices. They won’t put time and money into high end graphics if a majority of users are happy to use the minimum spec devices. You can build a solid Zwifting PC for a couple of hundred quid. I wonder would launching on xbox S be a possible way to get graphics up, with not too big an investment for the end user?

I used ATV for years and recently upgraded to a PC. PC wasn’t too costly and given how much time I spend looking at pixels when working out I figured it was worth it. less than half the cost of a trainer.

There is limited public races listed in the RGT app but if you go to the RGT events group on FB there are a lot more community races ran that you just need to enter the code for.

Have you played recently? There’s a new sprint feature where you can run faster for a few seconds and then you have to wait to let your energy level top back up.

I haven’t in a while but Northernlion is streaming it again. I might give it another try since they changed the whole building mechanic (thank god)

I had no idea there were races not advertised on their main app.

I use RGT on an iPad mounted in a holder on the bars. Works a treat. Trainer controlled over Bluetooth.

Linked to technical debt, aka robbing Peter to pay Paul with the debt biting you in the bum with interest at an unspecified future date.

And AFAIK, Apple TV is about as cheap an option you will find for Zwift or RGT. It beats out most tablets and surely any PC that can run them with any level of decent performance.

I just got an ATV for Z to use on my wife’s station, and it works great. I plan to test with RGT soon, and my just get one to replace my aging gaming PC. The quality to price ratio seems unbeatable to me, as long as you can live with the 2 BLE connection limit (which Z handles via Companion app bridging when needed). Not sure if RGT offers a similar option via their remote for ATV?

I guess that is what is happening at Zwift. They are fighting a beast of a code base to keep all the platforms running, catch up to updates and hardware. Perhaps during the start up phase their boss developers happen to be OpenGL people and wanted to brush up their resumes by building something up. Growth was fast and there was never time or resources to restructure. And now even adding a delete from garage button is a problem.
Could be the reality.

Agree. The Sufferfest videos are great for higher intensity work on the trainer indoors, while someone making RPE go down and the time pass quickly. Along with the Yoga modules, those workouts are the number one reason I keep up with my SYSTM subscription.
