So I want to start a new training plan starting the week after next, the main goal is to get faster for a 120km Gran Fondo I will be doing in may.
End of march I have a cycling holiday planned with basically a week of group rides.
Should I create one plan till may and basically just ignore the plan on my trip or should I rather create two plans before and after.
The reason why I am thinking about splitting, is that I want to have a rest week before and after the trip, as the volume will be quite a bit higher than my usual.
Based on how it sounds like you want to schedule things with your trip, I think going with two plans sounds like a good call. That way, you’ll get in some good structured training before your trip, have a block for the trip itself where you won’t need to worry about any structure, and then after some rest, you can get back into things.
Thanks for the reply.
I am going to split it then, but that raises the next question.
Should I select the first one as an Event/Race Plan (and treat the trip as one event) or General Fitness, and what would be the best choice if it is fitness?
