Productive and Stretch workouts programmed in taper?

I have my A race coming up next weekend. Trainer road has reduced the volume, as expected for my race. But I have been given a threshold workout which I haven’t done for over a month and it looks to be a stretch workout. I question if I could actually complete it. It would be 2x 10 min spent well over FTP. Something I haven’t done all plan. There’s also a jump in vo2 from 6.1 to 6.6 three days out from my race. I’m worried this “taper” will be too fatiguing and won’t freshen me up. I’m happy to adjust them but just not sure what to do, attempt them or swap out and if so, do I adjust to productive or achievable?

AIUI, these days taper weeks are “reduce volume, retain intensity”

I would stick with the plan. You always have the option to bail out early during any workout.

Hey @Ros682

Good luck on your A Event!

I took a look, and things look well. You’re receiving taper workouts leading into your big day.

While workouts may appear easier or harder at first glance, they’re part of significant under-the-hood improvements designed to make you faster.

TrainerRoad now looks beyond just Workout Levels, factoring in your fitness, recent training, and overall trends to pick the right workout for you that day.

When a workout looks different from what you might expect based on past recommendations, it’s reflecting a broader view of your current fitness and capabilities. This supports consistent, high-quality training—and that’s exactly what helps you get faster.

You are, however, welcome to decline the adaptations as you see fit!

Thank you both for your replies. I went ahead and completed the workout that was prescribed (it had been adapted slightly since my original post but still quite challenging looking).
I ended up completing the workout without any adjustments and marking it as “hard”. I’m a few hours post workout now and feel quite good. My Vo2 one from Thursday was increased in intensity after today too. So I guess I should just trust the process! I was worried I wouldn’t be fresh enough for my race but I think the volume being less is helping.
