My Whoosh! the new Zwift 2.0?

I’d be curious to know how many people out there are using computers that can’t handle MyWhoosh. I bet it’s far more than I’m imagining. I don’t doubt plenty of people using Zwift just grabbed an old computer not being used for much of anything else and installed Zwift.

That’s what I did when I started with indoor cycling, ran stuff on an AMD based laptop with integrated Vega graphics. It … worked … enough … until I decided I was sticking with it, then built a system for it.

Whilst not a computer in the classic sense, 2019 iPad supports Zwift quite nicely but won’t run MyWhoosh.

Out of curiosity I just tried to install it on my laptop which is probably 4 years old but it didn’t meet system requirements. I’m sure it’s the sad graphics card which is fine for regular stuff. It did install on my iPad which is maybe 2-3 years old

Strangely I’ve had a different experience, Zwift will set the fans on my AMD card screaming (think Tornado taking off at full afterburner), MyWoosh seems a bit quieter.

Admittedly my gfx card has always been a bit noisy.

I quite enjoy MyWoosh as a free world to occasionally potter around in. Not sure I’d pay for any of the vr ones.

Imagine doing intervals with the Apple VR headset. Oh my sides if anyone filmed that.

Oh God, a full headset would have me sweating like a pug then falling off the bike in under 5 minutes!

Thank you, and I have a question. I have been using MyWhoosh off and on, and when I tried it 2 days ago, my trainer had no resistance, and I could only put out 67 watts. Unplugged, reset everything, and it came back on with normal resistance, but high resistance on the flats, then no resistance, then somewhat normal, then “dropping out” to no resistance. I have a Wahoo Kickr Core trainer, and everything worked well until a few days ago. My trainer has been unused for about 6 weeks, does it need to get “warmed up” by usage again, or something in the MyWhoosh syatem?
TIA for any advice / troubleshooting tips.

It happened to me using other applications (TrainerRoad, Zwift, Rouvy) several times.

It always turned out to be another app working in the background (or a cycling computer left switched on somewhere, or another computer with an app) and two devices fighting to control my turbo trainer

Maybe it’s something totally different, but I’m a living proof it may happen!

Graphics wise is personal because I definitely prefer Zwift over Mywhoosh. I’ve used Mywhoosh since it started since I live and work here in Abu Dhabi. I’ve entered a lot of their races during their early days as well, I quit using it a long time back and havent used it again so It may be better now. The drafting before was wack and a lot of the times the gradient was delayed. But I stopped using it mainly because I didnt like how it looked in game.

Tried yesterday and I liked it. The schedule is very interesting and the workouts looks solid. My laptop, on the other hand, didn’t liked it too much.

It was impossible to ride. Ok, my laptop isn’t a nasa computer, but the demands of this “game” are pretty high.

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately…that did not solve it. I am hoping that it was a 2 time fluke, and when I try it today, everything will be fixed. (fingers crossed)

When people have had similar problems with Neo’s over the years, they have left them disconnected from power for an extended period e.g. hours and that has successfully resolved problems. Worth a try when when you don’t have a solution yet

Try using Ant+ FE-C. Unlike using bluetooth, my PC, phone, and bike computer never had a problem of letting go when the sensors goes to sleep.

I recently switched to Zwift for all indoor riding. After researching options I went with an Apple TV box and a 43" 4k TV ($330.00 total). Works seamlessly, the bigger screen is much nicer to watch versus a PC, tablet, or phone … AND it’s more convenient eliminating the need for equipment on my bike stand/table. This convenient setup will likely make me a Zwift user long term.

UPDATE I tried THREE different platforms for cycling simulators, and NONE were picking up the Kickr Core. Even a “non-rocket scientist” like me made the assumption that it is the trainer, not the platform. Went to the Wahoo website for troubleshooting and found out my firmware needed an update. Used the app painlessly to update, fingers crossed, and…nothing! Contacted Wahoo, described the issue, they at first directed me to the same instructions I had already found, made Wahoo aware of this and viola, I am sending the trainer back with a prepaid shipping label to get another trainer!
Wahoo Customer support and service ROCKS!

Sorry you got a bum unit, but good to here another case of Wahoo stepping up to make it right.

Hoping for better luck on the next one

I don’t understand this constant praise of wahoo. If I spend a few hundred dollars for a trainer, I expect it to work for a few years out of the box. I’m not praising it for not working and needing to send it back for warranty. My 2016 Elite Drivo is still working the same as day one. My 2021 Saris H2 is still working. I’m never having to update the firmware because it can’t accurately reproduce resistance or estimate the power I send. If this was a car company, there’s probably a few class action settled lawsuits already for the that lemon.
