My Whoosh! the new Zwift 2.0?

I tried to run MyWhoosh today with it only picking up power from my Direto X. It kept crashing.

Also, using my Instinct 2 to control the trainer was a garbage experience.

In the end fired up TrainerRoad.

I’ll have another go when I do a ride on my dumb trainer with Power Meter. That’s the experience I like anyway (set resistance and use gears to change cadence/Power).

Not sure how to best control resistance on the Direto other than TR really, but don’t have a means of running TR and MyWhoosh, or Android based.

Just checked when I tried again and they seem to be in sync. Quite odd. Shrug, I’ve got RGT and was mostly wanting to try it out of curiosity.

I’ve been meaning to try this but it was hard to download and I’m wary of sportswashing so…

This isn’t a lot of money to them, more like someone’s pet project.

Anyway I really really like how they take cheating and verification seriously, and the prize payouts really SHOULD be getting peoples attention.

I’m trying to figure out what the different categories are though, and which one I can race in…

Trying this today. You still on the platform?

I was, but I had a heart attack a couple of months ago, so currently not doing much other than HR controlled workouts while watching Netflix. Would be if I could!

Was gonna try it tonight but it got late. Looks nice tho. Thanks for the Alt+Enter trick.

I used powerzones to resize the window automatically after going into windowed mode on Windows. Makes it easy to resize windows instantly to allow for TR on the bottom and My Woosh on top.

Hoping this works out. I would like to end my zwift subscription since its nothing more than to have a visual while I’m cycling (I don’t race, use their plans, or even have zwift control my trainer)

Yes it’s still free and you can use it with TR as the controllable power source like you can do with Zwift.

As @killroy123 does, i have just used it as visual distraction while doing workouts controlled by it via Training Peaks, or workouts from TrainerRoad controlled by TR. For that it works really well.

Some people have a lot of trouble running in going by the Facebook group comments, but for me on a gaming spec PC, it has always worked very well. A number of complaints come from people trying to run it on something that is out of spec.

Is PowerZones one and the same as PowerToys? I’ve tried the latter which works well

Yup. Fancyzones in power toys

I was able to download it yesterday, but it wouldn’t install due to system requirements not being met.

Yeah, dowloaded to my iphone no problem- but then getting that to display on my tv was an issue. Normally I can use apple homekit to cast videos from my phone but I didn’t have that capability within the app. I just watched a cross race instead.

If you are installing on Windows, it is easy to miss this requirement from the Windows store
*Latest DirectX installation required
*Latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable is required

So I’ve tried it out.

I have to say the graphics look incredible in comparison to zwift. Really nice.

Suffers from the same thing that other zwift alternatives had; its completely empty. But the offering of real places to cycle in is definitely a nice change up.

As a replacement for just having a visual while doing TR, it’s a winner in my book. Happy to take the free price for that.

I must say that I do think watopia has a unique charm to it but I think they really need to update the graphics to the level of MyWoosh.

Wahoo has dropped the ball so hard on RGT + Systm. Their forums are half panic and depression with some users even suggesting crowd funding to try and buy back Sufferfest.

If they would have actually integrated Systm into RGT, maybe it would have had a chance.

Now you got Wahoo straight up advertising Zwift on their home page instead of RGT.

Absolutely Shane. You put out cogent points as usual.

Even during the install I was a bit gobsmacked at the size of MyWoosh! 50GB+ . Had to clear my hard drive even. It was a surprise.

But when I saw how the graphics looked in game my instant reaction was, “why can’t Zwift look this good?” I think that first impression is something to note.

In terms of computer power needed, I have a mini-ryzen pc from Beelink which has an apu. Basic stuff and that ran MyWoosh perfectly. I’ll give a link here to my model in an update when I have a bit more time to write. Its also a few generations old so I’m sure new pcs could easily handle it.

That said, I’ve tried RGT and My Woosh gives the exact same vibes; it preports to provide the “answer” that many people say Zwift doesn’t give about indoor cycling. But Zwift’s gamey colors, the set world, the constant activity all around is very undervalued; it makes you excited to be a part of it. Every time I move to somewhere else, the lack of that does make you wish you had that instead.

Very “grass is greener on the other app” vibes!

Even in my use case of being a TR entertainment device, I’ve been more than happy with zwift. Double so when they added the new climb per week (month?) which I can roll into if I get bored of watopia. I think that solution was great in adding variety.

Unfortunately, tech advances and people’s expectations do as well. 4k high def graphic overall should come to zwift imo but do so along with a large price increase. I think that would be a way to square the circle (though it would make a lot of people mad)

My 2 cents. I’m still a zwifter but My Woosh has me pleasantly surprised.
