Brilliant, cheers mate!
We need a wiki!
Lets be honest. There are so many threads, nobody can read them all.
I would really appreciate some Kind of wiki or a how to rlated to AT.
Nacht ce Greets!
That Truchas+5 just looks like an easy 25m TT to me,
But as an outside ride mine don’t count ![]()
I think a number of people in the beta have commented on this, and it seems a very valid point.
I suspect that in this current (“v1”) release of AT we shall just have to deal with this issue ourselves, as best we can, as you’ve done by manually scheduling tougher workouts aimed at capturing your true levels…
But my guess is that so-called secondary progressions are something that might be improved significantly in future AT releases. NB not in the current beta release, but in full version future releases in the coming years, as TR work to improve their models.
I think the PL system is a very good innovation and gives them an excellent platform to build on, but realistically the earlier versions - like we have access to in today’s v1.beta - are always going to be limited in sophistication compared to where things may end up a few years down the line as refinements are made and the platform’s potential maximised.
A wiki would be helpful as a searchable resource. Also know you can use the search function of this forum to find a lot of the answers in the same way. You can even limit the search to the current thread or specific users. While not the same as a wiki, it does provide some similar use.
In any case, right now the best resource is the below article, which has an FAQ at the end with a lot of the common questions people have:
I’m wanting to do a Zwift ride up Alpe du Zwift, which is going to be 60 mins just below FTP I reckon. Is there anything clever I can do to have AT recognise this ride? Perhaps a 60 mins sweet spot session associated with it? Would I need to record it on my Garmin as an outside ride then associate it??
I personally would just treat it like an outdoor ride and score the survey as you would for an outdoor ride. That way it is categorized and used properly once the update to AT that Nate has alluded to finally hits. Of course, that means sacrificing progressions in the moment for accuracy in the future.
More to the point, associating it to a workout won’t necessarily make it work. Others have tried this with outdoor rides to little or no effect. You could, however, run TR and Zwift concurrently and pick a 60-min sweetspot interval workout and complete the workout on TR while sending the power and cadence data to Zwift at the same time. Of course this means you won’t feel the grades of the mountain on Zwfit, but it will give you progression for the workout selected.
Golden advice 19/10. ![]()

When doing a workout how do you approach survey when finishing but having to lower intensity in able to not stop/finish. All out?? Ftp is fine for vo2/endurance workouts but need to work on sweet spot.
Reduce your FTP and dial up the higher level VO2 workouts
?
I am almost positive Nate said that they ignore both the warm up and cool down phases.
That older style “hack” (FTP drop / VO2 kick up) seems entirely counter to the point behind having 7 different Progression Levels.
I think the main point is to answer the survey appropriate to how you felt. If he actually gets the “Pass” Survey, and only was able to complete it with the help of dropping the Workout Intensity, I would say the 5 - All Out is the appropriate selection. Then answer the secondary survey and let AT determine if that should lead to future adaptations as needed.
Thanks. I just finished and put too intense. I am sure that will help lower sweet spot. Then on my endurance I will put too easy.
Got through it and did not want to quit. We will see what happens. On polarized plan and so far I like it.
@mcneese.chad I am not sure if that is a pass survey but don’t think so. Regardless will keep working at it and putting in the appropriate responses. It is the long not the short term.
Yes, that is my understanding as well.
What Level VO2 workouts are you currently nailing?
(I think your response method is fine, I’m just curious as I’ve been learning more about my abilities by seeing the levels and looking at the new Workouts structures/intensity)
My levels are not really adjusted as of yet because I just started doing plans again (been TR sub for a long time) and was riding exclusively outside for the past month with my buddy at home. This week I started polarized HV 6 week plan and then I move onto the Polarized HV 8 week plan.
Will update in a few weeks to see how this adjusts my levels and the workouts based on my surveys.
Keep in mind, that even though we can hack the POL plans into AT, the adaptations are not refined enough to necessarily maintain the objectives and projections with respect to POL. So, keep an eye on suggested adaptations and you may want to ignore and manually swap in some cases.
Fair enough ![]()
.
From what I’ve seen mentioned, you’ll soon work out of your FTP is accurate with those polarised FTP workouts. Some of them look pretty tough 4x16 @ over FTP etc lol.
Good luck ![]()

@mcneese.chad Makes sense and I am more of a Traditional Base plan person but since this is sort of “connected” to it I figured I would give it a go and make adjustments via alternates as I go along. First week and I am liking the plan and workouts that are in there moving forward.
@mailman The workouts in polarized are good for me as I get in the endurance stuff that I like and it is going to push me on the sweet spot efforts when I need to improve. For VO2 there are some in the plans but I primarily get them during my outside group rides as there are some guys that are really fast.
I did that just yesterday! Cumberland +2 worked for me. It’s a 12 min build up to 1 h at 90-95%. Finished ADZ with a few min of work to go.
Cumberland +2 is SS PL 9.2 and AT told me it was “Not Recommended.” Ha.
