In app AI adviser

I use Formswim app for swimming and they are trialling an in app AI that talks to you about your last workout, advises where you can improve, and can make adjustments to workouts after discussion

For example, it told me I faded in my last set so I should focus on X. I said, actually I was held up by someone who should have been in the slow lane and it accepted that, realised it was not an indication of fatigue and adjusted its recommendations by ignoring that length.

I’m not describing it well but It’s pretty cool and strikes me as something that could easily handle most issues like people who are always taking breaks on the indoor bike, and doing monster weekend rides.

Alternatively, merge the companies and apps :innocent:

I’ve been using an app I found via the intervals.icu forum for cycling and it’s really useful, more recently I linked my intervals account to Claude and have found that pretty good as a sounding board for how to structure my plan and make adjustments etc. Similar to yourself, I’ve found being able to give the context of why I may have stopped or eased up quite useful, rather than just a pass or fail approach. Having a sounding board to voice ideas has been really useful and I’ve found I’ve been more consistent over the last few months by asking for advice when I’ve not felt up to a particular workout, quite often I get a suggestion to tone down the workout a touch, either by shortening it or by decreasing the intensity, for example reducing longer sweetspot intervals to shorter ones or dropping down to tempo, the workout still has a similar intention but with less fatigue. Found this has worked for me much better than red light/green light did, which just reduced everything down to endurance whenever I rode for more than a couple of hours on a weekend.

What’s the app you’ve been using?

I’ve been advocating here (unsuccessfully) for TR to respond to user issues with the AI by giving back more control to users when it comes to adaptations. Seeing as that’s not going to happen it seems, I’m thinking that it might be quite easy to recreate the old style plans by linking my strava within Claude, and asking it to recreate something similar from specific periods in my training history (eg a base phase from 202X etc)

If I can get Claude to propose something decent - which I’m confident of via the iterative process - then it’s just a matter of automating the workout construction into an app that I can play the workouts in.

Again, I’d happily pay TR for this but it seems the company has moved on….

There are two that I’ve found to be decent, Interval Coach and Le Coach. If you go to the intervals.icu forum there are a couple of topics on there relating to them you could read to get an idea if they’d work for you, think they both also do trial periods.
