Doc says 3-4 days before low intensity and 5-6 before higher intensity. This sound about right? I was going to start a new training plan Monday (tooth extraction yesterday morning) but I can easy spin and kick it out a week if that’s a better idea…
I would follow doctors orders. Dry socket is not fun.
Keep it easy for a week, can do more volume if you want to add some stimulus and start intensity again in a week.
I usually keep riding after knocking out or chipping a tooth resulting from a crash. I still have a few on my mouth and more in an old pill bottle.

When I had my wisdom teeth pulled, the ortho said to give it 2-3 days to avoid dry socket. At age 22, I was playing beach volleyball later that night and was fine.
Now… would I recommend that? Certainly not. I’ve not had a dry socket, but I know one person who did and he said it was very painful, so… I’d follow doc’s advice and give it a couple of days (said now as a responsible adult).
Bottom line is a couple of days off isn’t going to hamper your progress, but missing more time while dealing with a dry socket might. Better to give it 3 days off, then ride and go from there how you’re feeling and how the area seems to be progressing in my opinion. You might even find the rest does you some good!
Late to party for the OP but I would add that once I understood the reasoning it was much easier to follow the advice, as a Type A, as most TR forum users tend to be. Increased HR and blood pressure could dislodge the forming blood clot, which leads to dry socket, which as noted above is very painful.
I scheduled mine to be the week after a race to line up with a recovery week.
Also didn’t swim for 1 week.
