Hour Record attempt today (April 16, 2019)

From CyclingNews:

At the halfway point, the 27-year-old dailled his effort back into the sweet spot…covering 27.75km in just over 30 minutes…

Campenaert’s Sweet Spot zone is 55km/hr. :exploding_head::laughing:

crazy!

Don’t leave us hanging, what were those numbers?!

His coach was showing him his lap time every lap on an iPad, with a color coding (white=ok, yellow=slow)

The Wired video above states 440W.

He used custom made shoes with hidden laces. The guy is an absolute freak who spend days in the wind tunnel.

No head unit allowed within the rider’s field of view. I do hope they someday tell us the story the PC8 under his seat has to tell! Like others said, the shoes were an informed and tested decision, and the coach kept him on pace with a highly strategized and tested pacing schedule.

Everyone should really listen to the Eurosport podcast series with Sir Wiggo. Firstly, he’s a funny guy, but secondly, it’s very interesting to a racing cyclist.

Some info Campenaerts' Hour Record ride: What the Belgian wore to victory | Cyclingnews about what he wore that day. It seems overshoes are not allowed but visor etc are but he is faster whiteout after testing in windtunnel etc.

Apparently used to be a triathlete too? :smiley:
