Hi Guys,
I’m sure this has been asked before, but I can’t find it.
I’ve just rejoined TR and all my rides have uploaded, and AI FTP has told me my FTP is 203, I think this is very low. Would doing a Ramp Test reset the FTP recorded in TR. I just want to make sure that my training sessions are at the right level.
Ramp tests can over or under predict Id give AI a chance. After 28days it’ll recalculate itself and if it feels things are too low it’ll soon boost them up. That’s better than trying to force it IMHO.
You can do the assigned workouts and just answer how they felt in the RPE survey.
TR will a just but the down side is that it can take a few weeks of training until it zeros in with the adaptions.
At least that way you ease back into training if it’s been a while.
Cheers Guys, I’ll leave it for now and trust AI
If you feel it’s ‘very low’ then I’d do a ramp teset. Unless you don’t care about ‘losing’ a month of training to the AI system figuring out your actual FTP.
That’s a good point…
I would too. If you don’t mind doing one, why not?
Or enjoy the easy riding
Joe
Ramp tests are depreciated, its replaced by aiFTP.
How low do you think AIFTP is relative to reality? If it’s 100W too low, then just do the ramp test.
You might want to read some of the posts on the training forum on the RNG that AIFTP seems to be these days too.
How low are we talking here?
If none of your workouts are challenging whatsoever, then I’d be happy to take a closer look at what’s going on.
If your hard workouts feel more like a moderate effort, we could likely get you into a better FTP pretty easily by simply feeding the system some good data that represents your current fitness.
Answer the post-workout surveys honestly, and if things don’t fall into place within a few hard workouts, we can always pick a harder workout for you to take on that would show TR what you’re capable of. ![]()
Let me know your thoughts!
I had a similar problem. I had taken a few months off and my FTP was calculated to have dropped 60 watts. This was shortly after the launch of the new AIFTP system. I did a sweetspot workout that felt like zone 1, rated it easy and the next few ss workouts jumped up to 9.8PL. I swapped in a ramp test in TR, AIFTP re-estimated 30W higher, and everything was spot on from there.
I haven’t done any seissions yet, but I think 200w sounds a bit low as I don’t feel that much weaker.
I’ll give the system some more data and do some training sessions and see how it goes
