i had a 2 week hiatus from training travelling with family, when i got back after new year did a ramp test in tr which should only 201, i redid it after 1 week and it showed 213, my latest ftp for december prior to the hiatus was 252 from the ai ftp detection, my question is should i just resume the 252 ftp or accept the 213 ftp from the ramp test?
when i started with TR my first ftp last year around aug or sept was 197 and after consistent training 3-4 days a week i was able to get my ftp to 252 which was all based from AI detection in TR. when i was doing the last sets before i went away i was finding some hard intervals are very hard or maximum effort.
I will say that I am in the Beta and I feel even more strongly today than I did then that it’s important within the TR ecosystem to use the AI FTP that TR gives you.
You should recalibrate your power meter / trainer to make sure nothing is off there. I wouldn’t expect your FTP to drop so much in such a short time. If you have another power measurement you can compare it to, do that first to find out if that was the problem.
That’s not going to add any value to your workouts in the “New TR”. Thats why I said, “within the TR ecosystem”.
I do agree that there are people who use the power zones outside TR and might need to maintain a separate FTP for those things if they want to continue that.
I agree that if your going to use TR as a coach, then trust it. It will adjust over time. Not letting the platform make decisions kinda defeats the purpose of using it.
