Feature Request - Ride Sync with Intervals.icu

I’m going to express interest. Training peaks is pretty much dead to me anyway

I’ll throw in a +1 too so I can break away from Strava.

In the spirit of fairness and balance: I personally wouldn’t get any additional value from a TR → Intervals.icu direct integration. I don’t need Strava now for that and have the workaround of using dropbox working fine, and it took me about 5 minutes to set up.

I get a direct integration without dropbox would be “better” and eliminate reliance on another platform, and there could be other benefits for cooperation / integration between the platforms, but don’t take away any resources from things like WLV2.

Now, if people are looking for additional functionality that TR->Dropbox-> intervals doesn’t provide I get it, just personally wouldn’t be of much value to me.

Can I ask how you do this? And do you need a Dropbox subscription for more data? Or is it also free?

Thanks.

Free. Set up a free dropbox account, and TR has documentation how to sync to dropbox. And, intervals has a process for pulling from dropbox.

Maybe there’s a downside? I haven’t run into it yet though.

The only thing I haven’t done is disconnect Strava on the intervals.icu side yet, because I think that removes all historical activities that were synced via Strava.

It would yes. Something about their API agreement or something along that line.

Which for me was reason enough to not use Strava at all with TR or Intervals.

Does that mean you’re getting double entries (strava & intervals)? My rides (from strava) are still populating to intervals so I guess until that ends I shouldn’t use the dropbox option?

Nope, intervals detects and lists both sources on the activity page.

Whenever the Strava API gets shut down, I’m just really hoping it doesn’t remove all of the historical rides I have uploaded.

So it does get double entries? Sorry, little confused there.

No. One entry, one activity. The activity lists both sources.

It won’t duplicate the ride. I tested it with a manual upload (and strava one was still there) and it was the same file just two “sources” above the graph to thee right.

My fear also. I have switched to using Dropbox in addition to Strava so no fear going forward. But previous activities…

I am using both now. It seems like Intervals uses Dropbox before Strava as Dropbox is listed as my source for rides. Granted at this time of year I am 100% indoors so unsure what will happen when summer rolls around…

There was a post that @davidtinker made on the Intervals forum that said something along the lines if you keep Strava the segments will come over to the activity. And that using Dropbox was the preferred way as Strava strips somethings out of the .fit files? :man_shrugging:

I added the Dropbox workaround, although “workaround” grossly overstates the difficulty. I already had a free Dropbox account. Connected TR, connected intervals.icu, and it works transparently or seamlessly or frictionless, or whatever tech cliche you prefer. And I kept Strava connected to intervals but unchecked “download activities” on the intervals side and didn’t lose any of my old activities. This is so easy I don’t want TR to devote resources to a direct connection.
