Everytime i do a workout ftp goes down 😂

I started with 237 as my predicted ftp and as i do 1 work out, so fae did 2, my ftp decreased by 2 points, i think i did fairlywell on both hard intervals. Can anyone explain? Or the ai frp just like this after the patch?

No body can really explain it. It’s AI . And you are 1 of 10,000 posts about FTP

Can you post your calendar or screen shots of your last four weeks of training? So that we can see what’s going on.

Are you following a plan? I’ve found that the intensity settings (balanced, conservative, etc.) will definitely make a difference with predicted FTP. It’s actually a tad higher for me when I choose conservative (over balanced). I’ve also seen how you rate a workout make a difference–If the predicted rating is hard, and you rate it as extra hard/all our, then FTP is likely coming down a bit. At least that’s my experience. My predicted went from 318 to 307 (currently at 301) with a very hard rating (when hard was expected). FWIW, 307 feels a bit more correct.

It is a prediction of the most likely path of your future training.

I think this is kind of telling without fully seeing the data. (Not in a negative way)

If I came home from school at 15 and said to my parents I did fairly well on the test they’d be thinking I got a C. If you nailed them you’ll be saying you nailed them just like if I came home and said I did great they’d be thinking I got an A or B.

This doesn’t mean the C is bad it just means the system was guessing you’d get the A and basing it’s future calculations on that. You still made progress you still gained something from the workout.

time for our weekly “what’s wrong?” post without a sliver of contextual information :person_facepalming:t2:

for goodness sake post your calendar or nobody can help you!

That really depends on how you speak. “Fairly well” can just be a modest understatement.

Are the workouts changing to easier variations?

I suspect the AI thinks you are fatigued and will blow up if you carry on trying to do harder workouts.

At least that’s how I’m compartmentalising it, as my FTP is doing the same thing.

After a period of trusting the system, I’m back to my old ways of self-selecting harder workouts, especially now that doing what the AI says results in a lower predicted AIFTP anyway.

In my mind, if I’m doing harder workouts each week and completing them without any rests/pauses, then I must be getting fitter, regardless of what the AI FTP predictor says.

Hey @richarddy25

I’d be happy to look into it if you’re OK with me sharing images of your Calendar?

If not, you can always contact support@trainerroad.com

Note: if your AI FTP Prediction is still ways away, then the prediction will fluctuate more at the beginning. Like the weather forecast, the prediction becomes more accurate as you get closer to it, so it’s normal for it to have bigger changes at the beginning vs. the end of the 28 day window.

Are you doing your TR workouts on Zwift?

It also happened to me, but since I started increasing the difficulty to 102% it began stabilizing and didn’t decrease again.

Just my 2 cents.
