I’ve got two big trips coming up - one at the end of this week for the Tahoe 100k MTB, and one next month for Leadville. In both cases I’ll be flying out Friday morning, and I’m wondering the best way to handle my meals on Friday given I’ll be either at an airport between flights or otherwise away from the comforts of home. I’ll bring some premixed oatmeal/protein for breakfast the morning of the race, so I’m not too concerned about that aspect…it’s more so lunch and dinner on Friday.
There’s a chance I’m overthinking this, but I’ve put in so much time and effort training for these two events that I’m really trying to optimize everything I can, and a burger and fries probably doesn’t do that. Any tips are appreciated
I can usually find airport sushi, salads, and sandwiches. Not perfect, but bland combinations of carbs and protein. I pack a lot of healthy snacks in my backpack too.
Once at the destination, I tend to find a grocery store and buy foods there for the room. I can usually find rotisserie chicken, smoked salmon or something like that, along with fruit and bread or oatmeal, protein waffles, yogurt/cheese/nuts/olives/hummus and carrot sticks… Just the normal “stick to the edges” shopping along with knowing I don’t have anything but a microwave for cooking.
I have a major weakness for ice cream, so I often stop on my way back after the event for some cold and creamy decadence as a celebration!
