I’m in Jordan right now so typically in Eastern European time zone but we haven’t switched our clocks back yet, which may be the reason why
Couple of observations today with latest version – the extend cooldown button and text are impossibly small on an iphone 8+ . Also, overall, the touch feel is still very clunky. Multiple taps needed to go from devices back to workout. Workout internsity +/- had a number of missed hits and/or laggy number changes.
One quick development idea for the new iPad app. When reviewing beforehand the exercise; the ‘form’ which shows interval power target etc should automatically move to the left when viewing intervals on the end. Now it is going over the screen on the right side and therefore you cannot see your target power.
I’ve been using the Beta on an iPhone 7S (going to get a new phone soon, but this one still works well). I usually run TrainerRoad on a new MacBook Air using Blue Tooth and Ant+, and I prefer it, but I have been using the iOS Beta as well.
Positive observations of the Beta in iPhone 7S using BlueTooth only:
- The speed of the app has gotten faster.
- The power-smoothing and “control” of the trainer using the app feels smoother using the phone app. Fewer changes in power reading (and I run an Ant+ power readout on another computer while using the Beta App, so I can compare the two).
The only negative: The beta app always reads the time of the workout as three hours ahead of my local time. I am on the East Coast US, so for example, today when I did Halfdome:
- Started the workout at 11:12 am. Completed it at 12:12 pm local time/EST.
- The app says I completed it at 3:12 pm.
- The ride uploaded as normal, and Strava displayed the correct time.
- The TrainerRoad website also displayed the correct time.
- I checked my app settings in the main settings list on the iPhone and didn’t see anything about location sharing. I have Blue Tooth and Mobile Data enabled, and have the phone connected to Wifi.
Related to the above: If I complete a workout on my laptop, and then view it on the app, the app shifts the workout time to three hours ahead of EST.
Edit & Update to above: 10:05 PM same day: Downloaded the updated and the time issue is fixed! That includes previous workouts (sometimes when I would complete a workout later in the day, it would show up as being complete at very early on the following day (same 3 hour shift) – not an issue any more.).
Thank you everyone for all the rides and the feedback! We have been working hard on some of the more difficult issues and I think we have made some really progress on the timezone issues that people were seeing. See below for some of the other fixes like the Stages Bike and the auto-pause issue that some of you were experiencing.
Android Update: We’re still cruising and are getting very close. We still have to button up some things, but I’ll let everyone know with a separate forum post as soon as it’s ready.
As always we want as many rides as possible, so if you want to join the beta here is the direct link to join. Please keep the feedback (both negative and positive) rolling in as every little bit helps. ![]()

• Changed the way checkboxes interact on the workout cards
• Fixed a problem that caused the Stages Bike to constantly pause
• Fixed a bug that affected the transition to Workout Player from other screens.
• Clearing filters will now properly clear workout filters.
• Fixed an issue with having to repair devices that should be auto connected.
• Fixed an issue with scheduled workouts sometimes being one day ahead on the calendar.
• Fixed a problem with auto-pause sometimes being triggered during a workout with some devices.
Thanks Pete, about 5 minutes ago I got the Test Flight notification.
@Geoff sure thing. I already did my ride for today but will give it a whirl Saturday morning at the latest!
Running iPad Mini 2 on iOS 12.4.8, just updated to 36.0
- App crashes when the loading/hang tight bar appears on the top. (Was able to recreate this consistently, had to switch back to the production app to use TR)
- Loading icon is temporarily misplaced when the hang tight bar first appears. (Will attach a gif shortly)
- Instructional text is harder to read on a small screen due to the weight and font size . (Not really a bug, just more my opinion, man)
Really good stuff so far! I’m excited to see these features in the new app, and it looks so much more modern. I hope the team is proud of their work!
I ran the iPad beta today (ipadOS 14.0.1, ipad pro 11"), I think for the first time, with pettit. Worked no problem! I’ve recently started using powermatch, because my Hammer seems to be reading ~15w lower than my assioma uno pedal, and that seems to be working well (I’ve used it both on the desktop app and mobile). It was just weird to be at 70% of FTP and my HR in the 120s, which for me has traditionally been warmup watts at 50%, so maybe a new FTP is in order for SSB starting next week!
Did Tunemah today on my iPhone. Just updated to the new iOS. After the first interval I needed a pee break. Whe. I came back the workout was paused but said do you want to continue. When I touched “continue” it took me back to the beginning of the workout. I fast forwarded to after the 1st interval to continue but I lost the the first part of the ride.
Hi Pete how do I request access?
The app crashed twice yesterday when I tried to open it. I then started a custom zone 2 work and put the phone to sleep so I didn’t have to stare at the screen. When I opened the app up to pause the workout TrainerRoad was no longer running.
Don’t need to request it, just scroll up about a dozen posts (to Pete’s last one) and hit the link titled ‘Join the TrainerRoad beta’:
Thanks got it.
Just installed the latest version available and what to give my initial feedback.
-
Takes roughly 10 seconds to open the app on my iPhone 7 that is quite long. Time to upgrade the phone or speed up the app.

-
In many part the translation to German is not finalised. Which is not an issue as I ll keep using TR in english.
Seconds instead of Sekunden
Week instead of Wochen / Syncing - Please hand tight…
“Workout suchen” instead of Find Workout on the below.
I guess there are many more rather technical details which are not translated yet.
- I would not use “Stornieren” I would use something like "Abbrechen"on the below.

- “Deutsche” should be Deutsch for the language if you include Austria, german speaking Switzerland and Germany. If you separate all three it should be “Deutschland” for Germany.
More to come in various posts over time. Now it is time for some recovery cake, tee, coffee and family time. ![]()
Had a few odd things today
At ride start text was very large. Total ride time wrapped onto a second line and there was no interval graphic. Just overall workout.
Then switched to Spotify and when I came back there was now the usual data and two graphic windows. But the lines for power, hr, cadence has all been displaced lower and were disjointed with the current lines for those.
Extend cooldown button still impossibly small.
Intensity +/- would often skip by 2 with normal touch.
And ending time was in the wrong time zone - 3 hours ahead of east coast.
EDIT: I may have done the workout with the version just prior to latest. I had updated a few days ago. And see there is a new one now. Sorry!
First time to use the Beta on my Ipad. 10.5 inch Ipad Pro software 14.1, Tariner is a Tacx Neo 2.
I did two workouts. Brasted and then Taku.
I prefer to use the Ipad in landscape mode. Initially I saw three areas in the display. Top was the numbers, middle was current interval, bottom was the ride selected. The numbers were too small for my liking. Would prefer a larger font. I turned the ipad to see what changed which worked fine but wasnt to my liking. I did a few flips on the ipad during the ride and when I was on the second ride of Taku the display did go back to what I was used to on the old app. I lost the middle area with the current interval. I dont know what I did as I didnt see that I could change the display but preferred this display to what I started with.
Brasted. I did two sets of the intervals. I was used to the power changing two seconds before an interval on the old app. Response on power felt different. The power display did not respond as the previous app did. I use erg mode and it seemed like the power was slow to respond. When I analyze the ride it definitely takes a few seconds to get up to where the power was supposed to be. My intervals were all under the target power.
In the rest period of the intervals power felt too high and would take some time to drop.
I didnt like the feel of the ride and stopped after two intervals.
I then tried Taku to see how the power would respond. Everything worked fine. Power was at the target for the interval.
Overall it just seems for short intervals power is not responsive.
Hi guys, I’ve spotted a few bugs (I’m on an iPhone 7 running iOS 14.1)
During workouts, the extend warmup/cool down button doesn’t look like it loads properly (the text is way smaller than the box, and the box is nearly too small for me to click).
And under my account when I tried to change my weight I got ‘not a number’ even though I was typing into the number pad. (I want able to save it, it just didn’t work).
In general, I’m also finding the screen quite small to read/use. For example on the workout screen, I can’t really see there end time. And in menus, the ‘workout complete’ and the edit and delete buttons are very small and hard for me to click accurately.
Please see screenshots attached. I hope this helps and thanks for the sneak peek of the update!
