Early Access to Android Beta - Updated TrainerRoad

Unsure. Whatever the play store gave me. I’m not the best at keeping android apps updated.

@Pete The lack of fanfare accompanying this changelog item is almost criminal.

Looks good so far, will do my first workout in the next couple of days.

Still having the same issues though…

Obviously the overlap on the horizontal mode display is a big/issue, but I think the blurry thumbnail is just while the ride syncs. At least I’ve found it’s just a matter of time and perhaps refreshing the screen/app and it’ll be sorted the next time I open the calendar.

3 hours later…

It still doesn’t show the TR workout images

Did you close the app properly/clear the cache in the interim 3hr?

It’s full production now… this shouldn’t be an issue

Not really a bug, but a UX problem, and a minor one at that.

I tried editing some workouts on my calendar and saw that I can finally change the Ride type to an outdoor ride in the app! This is a huge quality of life improvement. But then I opened a different workout and the UI element for changing the ride type was completely missing.

First I thought this was a bug, but then I realized it’s obviously because the other workout doesn’t have an outdoor option yet (these workouts are from the experimental polarized plan).

So no outdoor workout option → no UI element to change workout type. Sounds reasonable in hindsight, but it would be nice to have it look the same as the web calendar, where it explicitly says “No Outside Option.” Especially since other than that the two UIs look very similar.

ISSUE: Andoriod Beta does not allow user to review workout details such as interval data.

DISCUSSION: The new version does not allow the user to review a completed workout in detail. I.E. the interval details. The only way to review this is to go online via the TR Webpage. I am probably in the minority but I feel with all the great upgrades that are now in the App this is a major step backwards. Not being able to review intervals via the mobile App does not allow the user to quicly determine if a workout was in compliance to specified tgts . Users can no longer verify workout compliance via the mobile App. It appears we have taken two steps forward new features a step backwards with overall capabilities.
@Pete @Geoff Issues that I brought have been fixed and App is working fine the TrainNow function also works well.

WAY AHEAD: Allow mobile App users to review workout interval data details.

Just did my first workout, Carillion, this morning. Like the look and power smoothing now. Use a Stages left side power meter on a Feedback Sports Omnium trainer so you guys could probably imagine how jagged my power graphs always look. Anyways, my only concern is that it feels like my power meter is off. Did calibrate the power meter one minute into the workout as even the warmup seemed to be too easy. After the first interval, had to increase workout to 115% to feel more like in sweetspot.
Just wondering if this is an issue anyone else has been experiencing? Not sure if I should just manually change my FTP or just keep increasing the workout intensity. Dont want to make any changes just to find out that there’s an update again that fixes this and then the next workout becomes too hard.

Hi
Still have the problem that the app most often won’t close using the Back button on my phone. Sometimes it works after clearing the cache but not always.

Seems like a zone is missing. Or I have too many bars.

I finished a workout this morning, and while the post-workout summary screen loaded and displayed fine, when I pressed the < button in the upper left (not the OS “back” button, but the one in the app) to go back to the main dashboard, I got an empty screen with an infinite red spinner:

(That screenshot is my attempt to reproduce the screen after the fact, which is why the time is later in the day  )

It stayed there for several minutes while I did post-workout chores. Pressing the OS “back” button had no effect. I finally closed the app from the OS active task list and restarted it.

I also noticed this and forgot to report it. It appears the spacing is off. there are 6 zones and 6 lines, but they aren’t perfectly lined up for some reason. Hopefully that’s a simple UI fix on their end.

The Android back stack is still broken in build 2021.11.0.92055. Once you navigate within TR, you can’t leave the app by only using the Android “back” button/gesture (cue the Hotel California jokes )

Wow that was a shitty first impression today after the update (I wasn’t on beta).

Icon on desktop was removed during the update, needed to login again. Needed pairing of my devices again. Started my first ai suggested workout (yay!) - app froze and I realized after 30 seconds that my trainer doesn’t do anything. Restarted the app (close via task manager), no trainer found, restarted the phone, started workout again, lost connection to trainer after a few seconds. Repaired devices, started workout again and finally I was able to do a 60 minutes workout. (I was about to cancel training for today). After the workout I was stuck on the workout finished/overview page. Couldn’t leave screen neither with back button nor with arrow on top left. After I saw the Strava notification that a new workout had been uploaded I knew that I could just stop the app without losing my workout. After a restart I just had a blurred workout preview, but that fixed itself after a while.
Especially the broken back button feels like the app shouldn’t have been released to public.

But hey that is the first time I am complaining in over two years… So get back to your previous self and keep up the good work!
