the app seems to be getting more stable and also to load faster. Still loving all the new features. One bug that persists - When in a workout and switching to a different app the TR app will frequently, but not always, crash. The workout is saved and I can resume where I left off but there have been some instances when the app has crashed and I have not realized for a few minutes while I have been doing other things. Thanks for all the hard work on this! I can’t really complain about getting a few minutes extra recovery between intervals…
Workout variants from calendar view also seem to populate unreliably.
I’ve had a couple of workouts on the latest Beta version (full tech details at the end of this post) and it is working great for me. I love the improved calendar functionality - especially being able to add/edit runs & swims without having to go to the web version. Being able to select past months from the drop down menu is also great.
There are a few small “issues” I’ve noticed, though:
Power rises/drops in erg mode seem to take longer than they did on the previous version of the app - up to about 10s to hit target power. I don’t know if this is unavoidable and I’ve just forgotten that the same behaviour happened before, but I thought it was worth mentioning just in case!
Only TR workouts that happened in the last 6 months have synced to my calendar. However, other activities that happened before that HAVE synced. Which seems a bit weird… (the older TR workouts are still in my calendar online).
I’m a bit sad that workouts I had “favourited” on the old app version didn’t sync across to the new version. The favourites list was useful for saving go-to workouts if I had nothing planned. Or is this a way of telling me NEVER to think I can do a better job than Chad…?! (I’ve also just noticed that favourites don’t sync with the web version either, which would be nice).
These very minor issues aside, the new app gets a big thumbs up from me. Thanks for the continued great work everyone!
–my tech details–
App version: 2020.36.0.92044
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S10e
Android version: 10
Trainer: Tacx Neo 2 (connected to app via bluetooth)
Other connected devices: ant+ hrm
Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Latest Updates
Tacx Neo OG, Wahoo Tickr and 4iiii PM for Cadence only.
Observations using the beta app verses regular android app.
Tacx Neo starts interval on time with beta (2 second early on regular) and resistance changes more gradually (smoother?) in beta.
Missing the day being highlighted and Load Workout button for today’s workout in beta app.
I’ve just opened the app, got the red spinner for maybe 2 seconds now all I have is a permanent black screen. I can’t do anything to get rid of It. I’ve cleared the cache but it’s still a permanent black screen.
It seems to take about 5 mins for the graphics to catch up with the calendar after finishing a workout since the last update.
Just a blue graded area until it does.
Having issues with my HR monitor data. Samsung Galaxy S10e, Android 11. Whenever I connected my Wahoo Tickr HRM to the app, the data was “flat”, almost as if it took a single HR reading and slowly decayed and dropped down. I suspected my HRM was just dying, so I picked up 2 new ones CooSpo (random Chinese knock-off) and a replacement Tickr (newer model). I tried the CooSpo and it seems to work fine, however, the new Tickr seems similarly sluggish. Always connected the HRMs using Bluetooth protocol (though all three can also broadcast ANT+).
Image of the original Tickr data irregularities.
I’ll continue testing with the new Tickr and try other bands/chest straps as well.
I managed to get around the permanent black screen yesterday by deleting and then reinstalling the beta app. But trying to do today’s workout the app is showing a permanent black screen again. I’m not going to delete and reinstall the beta app every day when I need to train. Would be good to get this bug sorted asap.
Tried the beta first time today. Everything seemed to work great.
Only the share button after the ride doesn’t work. I can only share to instagram and since I have two instagram apps on my phone it first asks do I want to use instagram or “paraller instagram” after this is will just go back to TR app.
Couple of issues today, first loading of workout didn’t trigger erg mode despite erg mode being selected. Reloaded workout and it was fine.
Then couldn’t calibrate trainer.
Now, after workouts finished, the app keeps crashing. It’ll load, I’ll see the workout thread for a split second and then the screen will go blank and nothing happens.
First impression of the new app interface is very positive, with a fresh appearance. First two rides were good with power appearing to be smoother than when using PowerMatch 1.0, with less pulsing.
However, this morning I appeared to have an Erg initiation failure with my workout…Round Bald -2. After the three minutes of the warmup, the first step came and went without the step in power. And then the second…and then the main interval block at which point I stopped the workout.
Hiya guys, tried the TR Beta (Windows app) today and the major issue compared to non-Beta is it not allowing me to find ANt+ dongle if I’m already running Zwift.
This isn’t an issue previously, so I can only assume is tied to the new app
I can’t get my galaxy tab A to even go into landscape mode in TR. After the app loads up it switches to portrait and won’t flip back around no matter how I position it.
Unsure if this is a beta related issue or not, but on my most recent ride, Boarstone , my power fluctuated much more than it typically does. It would fluctuate ±25 watts it seemed for a good 30+ second, never really settling on the target.
Note that I did do this on a new bike, however it was the same powermeter (Vector 3, left side pedals.) I did have to change the crank size from 172.5 to 165 mm, which I did in the Garmin app. I then calibrated the pedals in Garmin, then again in TR. After I noticed the fluctuations, I tried calibrating again, doing spindown calibration again, but nothing seemed to stabilize it. I even tried messing with the trainer responsiveness
When does the live FTP appear? I was doing a ramp test to see how the live FTP worked, but when I didn’t see it at 18 minutes in, I decided to pull the plug.
