Of note⦠Wahoo optical hrm connected by Bluetooth to both app and to Wahoo element bolt. This has never happened before it was one or the other but not both.
Had to remove and reauthorise Strava connection to TR for workout to be pushed through but thatās no big deal.
I did one workout with the beta app on my Galaxy S20 (Android v11) and all went fine. I had to reconnect my heart rate monitor (Ant+) and Tacx Neo (Bluetooth), but that went fine. Things I like in the new app:
In the non-beta version of the app, I only saw cadence when connected via Ant+ to my trainer. In the beta app I now also see cadence with Bluetooth.
Great to have much more control of the calendar from within the app.
For some workouts, thereās a tab to show different version of the same workout. Not sure if that was already there before or not.
Other feedback:
The font during a workout is fatter than before. When doing a longer workout, the target power number and total time number almost touch each other because of this. I prefer the thinner font.
In the Dutch translation of the app, āpowerā is translated to ākrachtā. While theoretically thatās a correct translation, everyone and every app uses the English word āpowerā instead of ākrachtā. So I suggest using āpowerā instead of ākrachtā.
When opening the app for the first time, I had to select the language. I selected āDutchā and, indeed, the whole interface is now in Dutch. However, under settings the language still shows as being set to āEnglish - Engelsā while it should be āNederlands - Nederlandsā.
I have both English and French set up on my phone. English is the default one and all my app show up as English.
The new beta though is setup in French somehow. The settings in the app is English if I change it to another language then back to English, the apps switches correctly to English. But the new next Iāll launch the app again it will revert back to French.
I tried the beta version of the app today. I like the way the app has turned out.
Positive:
no problems connecting to my devices. I use a Samsung A50
Nice that adding anotations in the app is easier now.
the overall layout is nice
negative:
did a calibration with no problem, tried to do it again (neurotic I know ;-)) and it didnāt work. The screen kept showing the loading symbol (donāt know how thats been called, sorry, itās the dial that keeps turning)
adding a note to the workout when ended is a bit more difficult then the old version it seems. When I made a note and tried to save it, it gave a message that the note couldnāt be saved. When I went back to the training in my calender it did have the note I made in it.
Other:
the font of chads workout texts are a bit small for my liking. It takes a bit more focus to read them. Also is seems as they are shown for a shorter time, also making it more difficult for me to read.
when doing a calibration of my trainer in the old app when you reached the correct speed the dial turned green, now it stays red, wich makes it a bit destracting.
the translation to Dutch maybe is technical correct, but not the spoken language. I change my settings back to english.
big shouts to the whole team, the new App is so aweseome supercool, it works for me superfine on Samsung Galaxy S4 (Android 10) and Samsung M21 (Android 11), now i like it more then the Desktop App, that means my TV is now free for other things during my TR rides!
New Powermatch 2.0 was a Bomb on Desktop App (Neo2 BLT, Vector 3 ANT+, HRM Pro ANT+), now on Android i use all my sensors with BLT instead of ANT+ and they are as stable to ride as on the Desktop App.
One thing, now i know that Portrait Modus ist better to use, then landsacpe mode!
Hi Pete,
Iāve uninstalled my old beta app, left the beta via appstore, joined the beta again on the link you provided, but still on the 2020.36.0.92038 version
Could it be that I missing some step?
do everything with the Android Play Store, if you left the Beta there it takes some time that the Play store ist updated, i waited more then a hour on both of my devices with totally different timing (Tablet & Mobile Phone).
Before you uninstall the Beta, stop the App, delete cache & memory, restart your device and wait as long to join Beta Programm with Play Store till you get the message there something like āyou removed from Betaā or so.
So it worked perfect in my case, i didnāt use the possibility to rejoin via the TR Links!
I did another training today with the new app. Big thanks again for the girls and boys of the design and engineering teams.
I really enjoy the calender function, it makes switching the training schedule around so much easier.
Pairing devices is very fast, today my heartrate and cadens monitors where no problem at all to pair.
Today I did calibrate my trainer. Thought about doing it twice, but that didnāt work anymore. Thatās great.
Chads workout text also seems to go away a bit slower and was easier to read, but maybe thatās just me not being fried anymore
The note problem still is there. I made a note after my training, then tried to save it. The save thumpnail kept running, and didnāt state saved. When I went back it did have saved my note in the training overview.
We have another release out, and Iām only a little late on my post. Weāre seeing some good feedback coming in with all the new athletes joining, and weāll keep knocking out the fixes.
Hereās a quick rundown of what was in this latest release.
⢠Fixed a problem where the workout list could show an endless spinner
⢠Fixed a problem where discarded workouts would show in Calendar
⢠Fixed two scenarios where the athlete's locale would be incorrectly assumed
⢠Added the server unavailable banner for that error
⢠Fixed a problem with account and re-logging in
Some issues when riding Collins this morning. Only the numbers panel and the lower graph panel were visible. Everything had adjusted to the space correctly. Then at some point later in the ride it switched to the normal display with all the elements visible. Might have been when I switched to Google Home to turn my fan off (yes, off: it was freezing in my conservatory this morning!) and then back to the app.
Got screenshots but not sure if I can attach them here.
Galaxy S10, android 10.
Mostly no issues for me just working out as normal, the main (small) thing that kinda annoys me, is the screen glitching when the rotation sensor is hit. When I push a bit harder, sprint or reposition my hands, sometimes the screen wants to rotate but then quickly restores again. It looks like there is a fix in place to avoid the incorrect screenlayout we had in the beginning, but itās a bit too noticable
Still having issues with app on detecting tablet is in landscape mode. Workout is in landscape but then flips back to portrait after the Workout is finished.
Also. Chadās text is hidden behind segment stats
I guess, they want to have the landscape view to match the desktop layout (more or less), and the portrait more mobile optimized.
The question is then if your tablet is big enough for the ādesktopā layout,
Personally I use my phone with garmin mount sticker case, and really like it that way (in portrait), enough info and all perfectly readible, I wouldnāt know why you prefer landscape on a tablet with a bigger screen, as @fl33tStA mentioned there is no real downside to portrait on mobile/tablet
The Devices screen is showing your TICKR once over ANT+ and once over Bluetooth - you can tell by the icon to the left of where it says āHeart Rate Monitorā.
I would only pair to one or the other, not both. Pairing to the same device over both connection types can lead to irregular behavior.
