I maintain that I should have raced “expert” class last year at my local XC series. I would have won the overall even if I got last in every race. Not one person in that class raced all the races and there were so few in each race that I would have scored insane points even if I got last (and I surely would have placed last).
Think of it as a one-man heckle from the audience, that’s all.
Using misogyny as the foundation for a light joke without context isn’t my taste, and I don’t think it’s welcoming to the forum community.
Throw this one on SNL where you can see the man is a blithering idiot who doesn’t understand decisions so the jokes on him, then sure, it’s a joke. I see the set up, assumption, and shatter. Don’t know what the punchline would be, I’m not a writer.
Otherwise, the joke and following reply come across as “Its the woman’s fault but it’s just a joke, so lighten up.”
Interesting. Woman here who didn’t read it as sexist at all. Could easily swap the man and woman with the same results. My reading was more like start riding → get more bikes → find partner who rides → start a family → no more riding
Luckily husband and I stopped at even better so we’re all set
